PARRISH ART MUSEUM ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF FOUR NEW TRUSTEES

WATER MILL, NY — The Parrish Art Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of four distinguished leaders to its Board of Trustees: Dr. Andrea Myers Achi, Sherri Cohen, Karen Mehiel, and Aima Raza. These new Trustees bring a wealth of expertise in philanthropy, global communications, education, and contemporary art, further strengthening the Museum’s mission to celebrate art, artists, and the East End’s artistic legacy and expand access to the arts for the surrounding community and beyond.

Dr. Andrea Myers Achi
Dr. Andrea Myers Achi is the Mary and Michael Jaharis Associate Curator of Byzantine Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. An art historian specializing in Late Antique and Byzantine art, she focuses on the intersections of these traditions across diverse cultural and geographic contexts, particularly within the medieval Mediterranean. At The Met, she also serves as Co-Head of the Alexis Gregory Curatorial Practice Program, where she helps shape the next generation of museum professionals. Achi has organized numerous acclaimed exhibitions and is a prolific writer and speaker, contributing to leading academic journals, edited volumes, and international conferences. Her practice reflects a strong commitment to cultural leadership, advancing more expansive and inclusive narratives of artistic production across cultures and regions. She has also held leadership and board roles with the International Center of Medieval Art, the Medieval Academy of America, and the NYU Institute of Fine Arts Alumni Association, underscoring her sustained engagement with institutional stewardship and the broader field.

Sherri Cohen
Sherri Cohen serves as Sotheby’s Global Head of the Fiduciary Client Group. For over a quarter of a century, she has worked at the intersection of the legal and art world – as a thought leader—and trusted expert, advising professionals and their high-net worth clients during the art collecting lifecycle. Sherri is a U.S. and U.K. dual-qualified attorney as well as member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She is an active member of Art21 Contemporary Council, Trusts and Estates Magazine Board, Chair of the Trusts and Estates Committee of UJA-Federation of New York, and Emory University’s Dean’s Advisory Council. Sherri is a proud mother of two daughters, and a Bernese Mountain Dog and splits her time between New York City and Sag Harbor, New York.

Karen Mehiel
Karen Mehiel is the Chief Executive of Kampack, Inc., a major manufacturer of corrugated shipping containers located in McDonough, Georgia. She is also the founder of Flok NYC, a community-based space offering programming and yoga. Ms. Mehiel is a deeply committed community activist with a long history of civic engagement. Her involvement includes serving on the board of Artadia, an organization dedicated to identifying and supporting innovative visual artists. She has also served on the boards of The Robert and Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center and Amani Global Works. In addition, Ms. Mehiel is a former member and current supporter of The Women’s Leadership Council of Stony Brook University and The Climate Group, and previously held the role of Wildlife Conservation Society Advocate. She is a passionate supporter of the Parrish Art Museum, and highly values their community outreach initiatives. Ms. Mehiel is the author of Teetering, her first literary work. She is married to Dennis Mehiel and resides in New York City and Water Mill, New York.

Aima Raza
Aima Raza is an active supporter and advocate for the arts, with a focus on advancing inclusive cultural institutions and expanding access to artistic expression. She serves on the Chairman’s Council of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Dean’s Advisory Council at NYU Steinhardt. Aima is the founder of Peace Project Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to fostering inclusive educational environments for New York City youth through human rights education and arts-based programming. She has held leadership roles across numerous arts and education organizations, including the Southampton Arts Center and the Children’s Museum of the East End, where she previously served as Co-Chair of the Board of Trustees, as well as The Allen-Stevenson School and West Side Montessori School. Her work sits at the intersection of art, education, and social impact, reflecting a commitment to fostering dialogue, representation and community through the arts. She lives between New York City and Bridgehampton, New York.
