In Memoriam: Michéle Chevallier Pesner (1948–2025)

The Parrish Art Museum mourns the passing of Michéle Pesner, a devoted champion of the arts and a steadfast supporter of our institution. Michéle served on the Parrish Art Museum’s Board of Trustees for over a decade, from 2010 to 2021, and remained deeply engaged with the Museum beyond her tenure.
In 2023, Michéle and her husband, Steve, made a transformative gift by naming The Michéle and Steven Pesner Book and Gift Shop at the Museum. That same year, they were honored as 125th Anniversary Legacy Honorees at the Midsummer Gala, recognizing their enduring contributions.
A passionate lover of music and performance, Michéle and Steve were a constant presence in the front row of the Parrish’s Salon Series concerts, where they enjoyed world-class classical performances hosted by Louis K. Meisel. Her commitment to the arts extended far beyond the Museum—she served on the boards of esteemed institutions, including Works & Process at the Guggenheim and The Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York Inc.
Michéle and Steve became members of the Parrish in 1994, dividing their time between New York and East Hampton. Her generosity, leadership, and enthusiasm for the arts have left a lasting legacy on our Museum and community. It was an honor to know Michéle, and we are forever grateful for her contributions and friendship.
Pictured above are moments from Michéle’s many visits to the Museum, where she embraced and enriched our community.
