Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains the Museum’s building and grounds with extraordinary care and attention to detail.

The Maintenance Assistant works under the supervision of the Maintenance Maintenance Manager.

Maintain restrooms, offices, conference rooms, staff kitchen, and public spaces of the Museum in a clean and sanitary condition. This will include tasks normally associated with cleaning, such as trash removal, dusting, polishing, wiping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing and vacuuming. Regular cleaning of exterior and interior glass.

Assists other departments within the museum on set up and break down of events. Includes moving and setting up of stacks of chairs, tables of different sizes, staging, AV equipment, benches, and so forth.

Assures Museum grounds are free of litter and debris, exterior paths are clear and safe for guests and staff.

Maintains stock levels in supply closets. Notifies Manager when inventory needs replenished.

Inspects for unsafe equipment and or working conditions and initiates procedures and or remedies such conditions.

Monitors buildings HVAC system for alarms and assists with routine maintenance.

Assures compliance with the Museum’s unique security procedures.

Responds to emergency situations as they arise.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Maintenance Assistants must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time. This position will require some work from ladders, scaffolds and mechanical lifts. It will also require periods of standing, cleaning, bending, stooping, lifting equipment, moving furniture to perform certain duties.

Applicant must be able to lift/carry/move 50 lbs.

Work may be subject to a rotational basis including evenings, weekends and holidays.

HS Diploma required. Custodial or maintenance experience preferred. EOE
