PAINTING INTENSIVE: Drawing and Painting with the Masters

November 16, 2019, 2 pm - 5 pm

Weekend Workshop: Saturday, November 16, 2-5pm and Sunday, November 17, 10am-1pm

American masters William Merritt Chase, Childe Hassam and John Henry Twachtman, featured in the permanent collection of the Parrish Art Museum, are the inspiration for this two-day drawing and painting workshop. With guidance from teaching artist Barbara Thomas, class will begin with drawing in the galleries to learn the fundamentals of landscape painting. In the second session we will work in the studio exploring painting materials and techniques, including color mixing, how to ‘lay in’ a drawing or painting and tricks for achieving effects that make a successful work. We will use gouache watercolor, a user-friendly water-based paint that makes achieving all painting effects easy and rewarding.  Materials are included.
