2017, NR, 90 minutes, Director: David Shulman

Part of The Artist’s Lens series, co-presented with Hamptons Doc Fest.

This documentary tells the story of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who died from an overdose at the age of 27 and whose works sell for record prices. Exclusive interviews with art dealers Larry Gagosian, Mary Boone, and Bruno Bischofberger, as well as his sisters, friends, lovers, and fellow artists expose the cash, drugs, and racism that Basquiat confronted on a daily basis.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with Michael Halsband who knew Basquiat and photographed him together with Andy Warhol.

Friday nights are made possible, in part, by the generous support of The Corcoran Group, Bank of America, and Sandy and Stephen Perlbinder.
