ACCESS PARRISH Programs Support Individuals with Alzheimer’s and Other Disabilities

World Alzheimer’s Day is on September 21, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center is a Program Partner
Water Mill, NY —  The Parrish Art Museum is pleased to announce the upcoming series of ACCESS PARRISH programs that will continue to provide meaningful arts experiences for individuals of all needs and abilities.

“With the approach of World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, we want the community to know that these programs are free and underscore our partners’ ongoing commitment to serving community members living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, cancer, autism, and other disabilities—as well as their caregivers and families,” said Nathan Malak, Education Programs Manager.

Launched more than eight years ago, ACCESS PARRISH fosters creativity, connection, and well-being through programs designed in partnership with local health and community organizations. Participants explore art in the galleries, engage in hands-on workshops, and experience the therapeutic power of movement and self-expression in a welcoming environment.

Research has proven that the ACCESS PARRISH programs help participants experience a sense of joy and happiness, feel a sense of belonging, and build deeper relationships with others.

“These programs are not just art experiences — they are lifelines,” said Lauren Vlachos, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center. “They provide moments of joy, connection, and dignity for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. They offer caregivers and families a rare opportunity to feel supported, seen, and not alone in their journey.”
