As the official site for the Hamptons, we join over 700 cities globally in hosting "PechaKucha Nights," named for the sound of "chit-chat" in Japanese. The format is simple: each invited presenter gets 20 slides x 20 seconds per slide to talk about living creatively on the East End. This is a great opportunity to establish new relationships, learn about local resources, and hear from the many artists, writers, musicians, gardeners, farmers, baymen, winemakers, chefs, designers, architects, and other creative professionals of our region.
Presenters include: Bastienne Schmidt (artist), Mirella Cheeseman (photographer and producer), May Castleberry (editor and publisher), Michael Halsband (photographer and filmmaker), John Messinger (artist), Sabra Moon Elliot (artist), Ezra Thompson (artist), James Keith Phillips (LCSW, writer and dancer),and Mary Woltz (beekeeper).
Make a night of it! The new Golden Pear Café at the Parrish will be having a pre-PechaKucha “happy hour” from 5-6 pm this evening. We encourage you to come a little early and enjoy $5 Southampton Publick House IPA and $10 Macari Vineyards 2012 Sauvignon Blanc – Long Island’s #1 white wine. Special menu items will include artisanal cheeses, shrimp cocktail, and warm, house-made crab cakes with country coleslaw.
