Bastienne Schmidt is interested in the documentation and creation of artifacts that carry the patina of memory, history, and time. For Parrish Road Show, she searches the Whaling Museum collection for functional objects that have lattices or grids – such as nets, strings, and hardtack – and reinterprets them through translucent paper works that incorporate threads, fabric, and natural elements.
