This class is suitable for anyone who has taken the introductory course in encaustic painting or any artists that have had experience handling the material. With little or no time spent on preparatory materials and techniques, the class will experiment with replicating extant encaustic paintings from ancient times and samples from contemporary encaustic paintings. For more experienced encaustic artists, this class will also be an opportunity to explore advanced incising methods, filling practices, and various options for mark-making, as well as some casting. The goal will be to help build confidence with this complex material, helping to move the student’s abilities and imagination to a new level.

This indoor event requires all attendees to wear medical-grade masks at all times and show proof of vaccination; those 18 and older must provide a valid ID. To help us expedite the check-in process, we encourage all guests to send their proof in advance by emailing it to healthfirst@parrishart.org. Please put the event title in your subject line.
