Welcome back to the Parrish Art Museum! 

If you’re planning to attend an event or visit the galleries, please review this section so you know how to prepare, what to expect, and all that we’re doing to make your visit safe and enjoyable in accordance with NYS and CDC Guidelines for the health of our community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Below the general guidelines, you’ll find specific information about attending public programs and visiting the galleries.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • Members and Visitors must register and buy tickets online in advance for programs or visiting the galleries. No onsite admission sales available. The Museum Shop is open for credit card sales only.
  • If you have purchased a Groupon for admission, a staff member must schedule your visit. Please call 631-283-2118 x142, leave a message with your name, number, and day/time you would like to visit, and you will receive a call back.
  • We’ll email you a confirmation of your registration, with a list of Safety Procedures.
  • If you don’t feel well, have symptoms, or have had contact with a COVID-19 patient in the previous 14 days prior to your visit, please stay home and seek care.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  • Be sure to have proof of pre-registration and a mask with you when you arrive.  All Museum visitors over 2 years old must wear a mask.  Please note: no one will be admitted to the galleries or programs without proof of pre-registration and a mask.
  • As you drive into the driveway, Museum signage will direct you to the Parking Lot and to check-in points.
  • Please follow direction of Museum staff throughout your visit.
  • No outside food or beverages allowed at the Museum at any time.

WHILE YOU’RE HERE

  • Throughout your stay, maintain physical distancing of 6 feet between you and other groups or individuals.
  • You’ll find hand sanitizer stations throughout the Museum and grounds.

AMENITIES

  • Restrooms at the Museum, available to visitors, will have hand washing and hand sanitizing supplies. The capacity for restrooms is 3 guests at any one time.
  • Wheelchairs are available on request and will be sanitized before and after use.
  • Lockers are not available for use.

PLEASE NOTE: In the interest of your personal safety and community health, the Parrish requires that all visitors observe the precautions outlined here. Visitors who do not follow these guidelines will not be admitted, and will be asked to leave the premises. The risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By visiting the Museum and its grounds, you assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

GUIDELINES FOR VISITING THE GALLERIES

  • Please arrive during your allotted 90 minute scheduled period, allowing yourself ample time to see the exhibitions.
  • Regardless of when you arrive, all visitors must exit the Museum at the end of each scheduled period to allow for cleaning
  • Maintain physical distancing of 6 feet between you and other groups.
  • Wear your mask as you tour the galleries.

GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING PUBLIC PROGRAMS
Outdoor Friday Night programs on the Terrace and Lawn resumed as of July 17. Capacity for events is limited, so please check the calendar and the Program section on this site to confirm events and schedule.

SEATING

  • The Museum will not provide seating for programs, so please bring your own chairs.
  • When everyone in your group has arrived, you’ll be directed to safe seating areas spaced at 6 feet.
  • Spaces have a capacity of 1 to 4 people; groups (families or friends) of more than 4 will be assigned to multiple spaces.

WHILE YOU’RE HERE

  • Maintain physical distancing of 6 feet between you and other groups.
  • Wear your mask during the event. You may remove it when you’re seated in your space, or when eating or drinking. If you leave your area for any reason, you must wear your mask.

AMENITIES

  • The Café at the Parrish will take pre-orders for Friday Night programs and your order will be waiting for you at the event.
  • Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase during the program.
  • The Museum Shop and Galleries close at 6:30 on Fridays; guests will have access to restrooms only after 6:30 pm.

Check back often for changes to hours. In general, as of August 7, 2020, the Museum will be open Friday through Monday. Please note: Online registration is required to visit the galleries. Timed ticket periods are:
11 am – 12:30 pm
1 – 2:30 pm
3 – 4:30 pm

Pre-Purchase Your Timed Admission E-Ticket

Nonmembers with access to free admission are required to pre-register for timed admission. If you have a “Free Admission” pass, are employed by a museum or are a member of a reciprocal art museum, you are eligible for free admission. In order to access free admission, we ask that you call ahead to reserve your timed admission ticket.

The Parrish Art Museum is committed to providing engaging arts experiences in a safe and healthy environment.  As part of our response to COVID-19, we are taking the following precautions and protocols. 

CLEANING PROTOCOL

  • The Museum is cleaned every morning before staff arrives.
    Every 90 minutes, Museum maintenance staff sanitize the main entrance door handles and access buttons, Visitor Service desk area, Shop, restrooms, and other spaces accessible to the public
  • Hand sanitizer is available in the lobby.

STAFF

  • The Museum staff have their temperature checked upon arrival.
  • Staff members are required to report if they have been in contact with any individuals whom they know have traveled out of the state.
  • Staff are provided with appropriate face coverings and any other PPE.
  • All staff wear face coverings when in the vicinity of other staff or guests.
  • Café staff wear gloves and masks during all events.

SERVICE ANIMALS
If you’re visiting with a Service Animal, please note that photographing animals in the building is not permitted. See our Service Animal policy HERE.

PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Personal photography, without flash, is allowed in the Parrish galleries. No tripods or other photographic equipment (including selfie sticks) are permitted. We encourage guests to share their photos on our Facebook page and on Instagram and Twitter, @parrishart.

PHOTO SHOOTS / FILMING

For commercial photo shoots or film making in the building or on the grounds of the Museum, permission is required.  Please contact our Director of Communications pr@parrishart.org.

Field of Dreams

The Museum’s outdoor sculpture exhibition is located throughout its 14 acres.

Help us preserve the works for future generations! We kindly ask that you refrain from climbing, leaning against, or touching the sculptures, and keep children with you at all times.

Please observe social distancing practices when visiting the Museum and grounds.

All visitors must wear masks on Museum property.

Pets on leash are allowed on the grounds, but NOT in the Museum building, with the exception of service animals. See policy here.

Pet owners or handlers must pick up after their pets and properly dispose of litter.  Trash cans are located in the parking lot

PLEASE NOTE
Food and drink are not permitted anywhere in the galleries or interior lobby.

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere in the Museum or on the grounds.

Pets are not allowed in the building.

Outside food and drink are not permitted at the Museum, in the Café, or at the Café tables on the Terrace. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought to the Museum but can be purchased at the Café.

 

Active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, Veterans and their families receive free admission to the Museum through the Blue Star Museum Program.

MAPS/DIRECTIONS

The Museum is at 279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill, New York, just east of Southampton Village.

Free, ample parking is available behind the building for visitors and event participants.   

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FROM NEW YORK CITY
You can travel to the Museum from New York on jitneys (busses) or trains. Take the Hampton Jitney or Hampton Ambassador  from one of the many pick-up points in Manhattan to the Southampton (Omni) stop. Taxis are on-hand for the speedy 5-minute trip to the Museum.

Or take the Long Island Rail Road from Penn Station in Manhattan or other stops in New York City to Southampton. Taxis wait at the station, and it’s just 5 minutes to the Museum.

DRIVING FROM CONNECTICUT AND POINTS NORTH
The Cross Sound Ferry travels between New London CT, and Orient Point, NY. The Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry connects Bridgeport CT and Port Jefferson, NY.  From either the Orient Point or Port Jefferson ferry dock, the drive is about 1 hour 15 minutes to the Museum.

THE CAFÉ AT THE PARRISH

11 am–8 pm Friday
Closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day

There is no Museum admission fee to visit the Café.

Outside food and drink are not permitted in the Café or at the Café tables on the Terrace. Alcoholic beverages may only be purchased at the Café.

The Café at the Parrish features a bright, indoor space with a variety of elegant and fresh offerings coupled with a range of beverages.
