DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n\nMember | $190\nNon-Member | $270 \nFour-Week Workshop | Fridays\, October 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 \nThis four-session class will introduce newcomers to the basics of drawing and painting which will include using materials\, rendering\, composition\, color\, and how deeper knowledge of the basics serve to create dynamic drawing and painting\, whatever your idea or style. Experienced students will gain from more in-depth study of basic art principles. Students will bring their own supplies and have some use of museum materials. \nClass is limited to 12 students. \nProof of vaccine is required for attendees ages 5 and older for all events and programs; those age 18 and older must also provide a valid ID. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nJoin Parrish Contemporaries Circle and Contributor level Members for an exclusive gallery tour of Another Justice: US is Them—Hank Willis Thomas | For Freedoms with Corinne Erni\, Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Senior Curator. \nCome and engage in conversation with Erni and other members of the Museum\, then stay for the 6 PM Salon Series concert with Pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner. Tickets are $10 off for all Members. Register for Salon Series concert here.  \nAbout the Exhibition: The Parrish Art Museum has invited Hank Willis Thomas\, a conceptual artist working with themes related to identity\, commodity\, media\, and popular culture\, and For Freedoms—the artist coalition he co-founded to model and increase creative civic engagement\, discourse\, and direct action—to create an exhibition specifically for the Museum. On view in the galleries\, outdoors on the Museum grounds\, and as digital billboards on the Shinnecock Monuments on Sunrise Highway\, Another Justice: US is Them includes nearly 30 works by 12 contemporary artists in mixed media\, sculpture\, site-specific installation\, wall painting\, and photography. The exhibition is a call to the community to reconvene\, and reconsider what justice can be in a time of imbalance. \nArtists include Zoë Buckman\, Pamela Council\, Jeremy Dennis\, Jeffrey Gibson\, Eric Gottesman\, Christine Sun Kim\, Muna Malik\, Joiri Minaya\, Koyoltzintli Miranda-Rivadeneira\, Kambui Olujimi\, Hank Willis Thomas\, and Marie Watt. \nAnother Justice: US is Them is organized by Corinne Erni\, Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Senior Curator\, with support from Brianna Hernández\, Curatorial Fellow\, and is co-curated by Hank Willis Thomas and Carly Fischer. \nLimited space; reservations required. \nAttendees at events held on the terrace or in the Museum’s theater\, café\, or studio are required to provide proof of full vaccination in order to maintain a mask-optional environment. \nNot a member but want to attend? DESCRIPTION:$25 | $15 Members\, Students\, and ChildrenORDER TICKETS \nVirtuoso pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner performs his curated program Innovators\, featuring Humoreske by composer/pianist Robert Schumann\, Widmung by Schumann/arranged by Franz Liszt\, and Liszt’s Transcendental Etude No. 4 in D Minor\, “Mazeppa.” The second act opens with a piece by 21st century composer Frederic Rzewski\, followed by Barcarolle by Frederic Chopin\, Hoja de Álbum by Mexican composer Carlos Chávez\, and ending with selections form Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird ballet and orchestral composition\, arranged by Guido Agosti. \nAbout Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner\nDescribed by the Post-Standard as “mesmerizing” with an “extraordinary ability to communicate” Sanchez-Werner holds multiple degrees from Juilliard and Yale\, was named a Gilmore Young Artist\, an honor awarded to the most promising American pianists. He has performed at the White House and Kennedy Center for Presidents Obama and Biden\, and was featured on NPR\, PBS\, CNN International\, the Wall Street Journal\, and WDR-Arte. Sanchez-Werner’s recent international performances include The Royal Concertgebouw in the Netherlands\, CultureSummit Abu Dhabi\, the Louvre and Grenoble Museums in France\, among other notable venues.Advance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is recommended.
