Members with children aged 3-8\, and their guests\, are invited to a special morning set aside for wholesome activities focused on body\, mind\, and healthy living with Yoga instructor Christine Panico and New York Times bestselling author Susan Verde. \nStretch your body\, boost your energy\, and enjoy the serene setting of the meadows that border the Parrish Art Museum. Panico will introduce different movements and poses suitable for young children that support mindfulness and partner poses that encourage cooperation. Verde will lead an interactive children’s storytime inspired by her series including I Am Yoga and I Am Peace\, and the #1 New York Times bestseller I Am Human: A Book of Empathy. Verde will help us learn to identify our possibilities\, accept our mistakes\, and feel connected to the great world around us. SUMMARY:Summer Painting en Plein Air | Session II
DESCRIPTION:Four-Week Workshop\nSession II | Fridays\, July 15\, 22\, 29\, & August 5 from 10 AM–12:30 PM\n\n\nSOLD OUT MATERIALS LIST \n\n\n\nMember | $295\n\nNon-Member | $360 \n\n\nOpen to all\, ages 15 and up. Beginner to advanced. Class tailored to all levels. Students may work in gouache or oil and are responsible for their own supplies. Supply list provided. \nClass is limited to 12 students. \nThis summer\, two four-class series of en plein air painting will be offered.  Students may join one or both series.  The first class in each will be held at the Parrish Art Museum on the terrace where we will take students through materials\, processes\, and class structure.  Students will explore landscape works in the galleries to discuss landscape painting and painting issues\, including perspective\, distance\, light and shadow\, color\, trees\, clouds\, grass\, etc. \nAll other sessions (weather permitting) will be held at specific sites: gardens\, landscape\, waterscapes.\n \nNOTE: In the case of inclement weather\, classes will be held at the Parrish Art Museum \n  \nProof of vaccine is required for attendees ages 5 and older for all events and programs ; those age 18 and older must also provide a valid ID. SUMMARY:Music | Santi Debriano and Flash of the Spirit Quintet
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nVirtuoso bass player and composer Santi Debriano performs with his Flash of the Spirit Quintet as part of the Parrish Art Museum’s ongoing partnership with Hamptons Jazz Fest. The outdoor concert on the Terrace will showcase Debriano’s modern and Latin jazz compositions\, notably from his recently released Flash of the Spirit project that celebrates global music influenced by Middle Eastern styles\, Brazilian folk\, and Cuban songo rhythms. The concert features trombonist Xito Lovell\, tenor saxophonist Craig Handy\, flutist Andrea Brachfeld\, drummer Tommy Campbell\, and pianist Bill O’Connell. \nBorn in Panama\, Debriano has been composing and performing contrabass and ensemble music professionally since 1982 throughout North America\, Europe\, and the Far East. His prodigious talent as an improviser\, arranger\, and composer has made him a much sought-after collaborator with musicians including Freddie Hubbard\, Sam Rivers\, Archie Shepp\, Pharaoh Sanders\, Oliver Lake\, and others. He has led or played on nearly a dozen recordings\, including four albums with Shepp’s quartet. \nAfter studying for two years at the New England Conservatory under Tiny Martin and Miroslav Vitous\, and earning an M.A. at Wesleyan University\, Debriano performed with Archie Shepp’s quartet for four years. After a three-year stint in Europe\, where he performed regularly with the Sam Rivers trio\, he relocated to New York\, working with top jazz musicians including Kirk Lightsey\, Sonny Fortune\, Chico Freeman\, Elvin Jones\, Louis Hayes\, Danilo Perez and others. \nPlease bring your own chairs. No Museum seating is available. \nAttendees at events in the Museum’s theater\, terrace\, café\, or studio (ages 5 and older) are required to provide proof of full vaccination in order to maintain a mask-optional environment. Visitors to the Museum galleries (ages 2 and older) are required to wear a medical-grade mask at all times\, regardless of vaccination status. Advance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is recommended. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
