DESCRIPTION:Mondays\, July 18\, 25 & August 1  2PM to 4PM*\n\n\n\nIndividual Class Purchase\n$31.25| $26.25 for Members \n\nAugust 1\, 2022 | Register →\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nDevelop your drawing skills with teaching artist Linda Capello. Participants will practice drawing male and female models through gesture sketches and longer-duration observation. All skill levels are welcome. Participants are asked to provide their own dry media supplies.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n  \n\n\nProof of vaccine is required for attendees ages 5 and older for all events and programs at the Lichtenstein Theater\, café\, & Studio; those age 18 and older must also provide a valid ID. Using the current exhibitions as a prompt\, participants will spend 15 minutes free writing in the galleries. We will then reconvene on the patio to share writing\, thoughts about how the artworks inspired your stories\, and congenial feedback. Register for one\, two\, or all sessions. \nThis event requires all attendees to show proof of full vaccination. Mask-wearing is not required in the Theater or on the Terrace but is encouraged when not eating or drinking. SUMMARY:Summer Painting en Plein Air | Session II
DESCRIPTION:Four-Week Workshop\nSession II | Fridays\, July 15\, 22\, 29\, & August 5 from 10 AM–12:30 PM\n\n\nSOLD OUT MATERIALS LIST \n\n\n\nMember | $295\n\nNon-Member | $360 \n\n\nOpen to all\, ages 15 and up. Beginner to advanced. Class tailored to all levels. Students may work in gouache or oil and are responsible for their own supplies. Supply list provided. \nClass is limited to 12 students. \nThis summer\, two four-class series of en plein air painting will be offered.  Students may join one or both series.  The first class in each will be held at the Parrish Art Museum on the terrace where we will take students through materials\, processes\, and class structure.  Students will explore landscape works in the galleries to discuss landscape painting and painting issues\, including perspective\, distance\, light and shadow\, color\, trees\, clouds\, grass\, etc. \nAll other sessions (weather permitting) will be held at specific sites: gardens\, landscape\, waterscapes.\n \nNOTE: In the case of inclement weather\, classes will be held at the Parrish Art Museum \n  \nProof of vaccine is required for attendees ages 5 and older for all events and programs ; those age 18 and older must also provide a valid ID. On view in the Parrish galleries\, outdoors on the Museum grounds\, and as digital billboards on the Shinnecock Monuments on Sunrise Highway\, Another Justice: US is Them includes nearly 30 works by 12 contemporary artists—many created specifically for the exhibition—in mixed media\, sculpture\, site-specific installation\, wall painting\, and photography. \nArtists include Zoë Buckman\, Pamela Council\, Jeremy Dennis\, Jeffrey Gibson\, Eric Gottesman\, Christine Sun Kim\, Muna Malik\, Joiri Minaya\, Koyoltzintli Miranda-Rivadeneira\, Kambui Olujimi\, Hank Willis Thomas\, and Marie Watt. \nAnother Justice: US is Them is organized by Corinne Erni\, Senior Curator of ArtsReach and Special Projects\, with support from Brianna Hernández\, Curatorial Fellow\, and is co-curated by Hank Willis Thomas and Carly Fischer. \nBrianna L. Hernández is a Chicana artist\, curator\, educator\, and death doula guided by socially engaged practices. In developing as an artist Brianna credits her late mother\, Sylvia D. Hernández\, as her most significant mentor. In the studio\, Brianna focuses on end-of-life care\, grieving processes\, and mourning rituals based on lived experience\, cultural research\, and collaborations with peers. As a curator\, Brianna works with artists to make socially-charged topics publicly accessible in order to create opportunities for education and empathy.
