DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n\nIn the Lichtenstein Theater \nConversation 3/3 of a lunchtime talk series by Alicia Longwell on Jasper Johns \nIn a series of three informal lunchtime talks in conjunction with the exhibition\, An Art of Changes: Jasper Johns Prints\, 1960–2018\, Alicia G. Longwell\, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator will discuss Jasper Johns and three common themes explored by the artist throughout his career. \nSince 1955\, Johns has made more than 100 images featuring the American flag in myriad forms—changing its orientation and size; fragmenting\, mirroring\, or doubling the image; and producing it with a variety of colors and paper types. This talk will explore Johns’s and other artist’s fascination with the American flag and the ways in which they have incorporated this motif into their work. \nGuests are invited to preorder lunch through the Café at the Parrish and enjoy it in the Theater. Special Offer: Receive a free regular coffee with any Café purchase or receive a free bag of chips with the purchase of a salad or sandwich. Outside food is not permitted in the Museum. \nOrder 0nline → \n  \nAdvance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is recommended. He lived 16 years in Italy and he credits that period with making him appreciate art of wildly different periods. During those years Jim was a member of the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation’s Board of Advisors. In partnership with The Jam Session\, this live jazz concert features Eric Schugren\, saxophone\, Randolph Hudson\, bass\, Fred Gilde\, keyboard\, and Claes Brondal\, drums.  \nElegant People Fusion Explosion combines jazz harmonies and improvisation with funky grooves and Latin and rock rhythms\, creating what became known as fusion music\, drawing influence from Weather Report\, Pat Metheny\, Miles Davis\, John Abercrombie among others. The group was founded in 2020 to celebrate the fusion music of the 1970s and 1980s\, while also bringing this timeless music to a new audience. Elegant People have embraced this style of music\, giving it new life and exposure\, while remaining true to old school sounds and effects. Their repertoire is a mix of fusion hits and soundscapes\, giving the audience a brief but carefully curated journey back to the heydays of fusion.  \nNo outside food or drink is permitted. Food\, drink\, and picnic baskets are available to purchase in the Café at the Parrish. Preorder options are available here. This event takes place on the Museum’s Terrace\, rain or shine. Please bring your own chairs\, no Museum seating is available. All the summer concerts in collaboration with Hamptons Jazz Fest are recorded for 88.3 WLIW\, Long Island’s only NPR Station\, based in Southampton. \nAdvance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is recommended.
