DESCRIPTION:Held on Mondays\, 11 am to 1pm  \nFall Series: September 9\, 16\, 23\, 30 October 7 \n11am-1pm \nDevelop your drawing skills in this five-session open studio series facilitated by teaching artist Linda Capello. Participants will practice drawing male and female models through gesture sketches and longer duration observation. All skill levels are welcome. Participants are asked to provide their own dry media supplies. \nDrop-in rates\n$30 | $25 Member per session \n  \nLinda Capello is a master of figure drawing. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology\, she worked in the NYC fashion industry for over 20 years. She states\, “All I have ever wanted to do was draw\, and all I have ever wanted to draw were people. I am a classically trained anatomist\, but instead of the rigid\, mechanical representation of muscle\, bone and flesh\, I look for the subtlety of the line; the strength and sensuality of the thick\, thin and lost line. The curve of the neck and arch of the spine speak volumes.”

DESCRIPTION:  \nEnjoy an evening-length performance featuring some of the world’s most innovative video and sound artists who will interact with the architecture and landscape of the Parrish. Curated specifically for the Museum’s Platform series by OptoSonic Tea founders Ursula Scherrer and Katherine Liberovskaya\, the durational and site-specific group improvisation will feature visual artists performing live in different areas inside and outside of the Museum building\, while live musicians and sound artists perform coordinated and spatialized works by composer and Diapason Gallery founder/director Michael J. Schumacher. Presented in collaboration with New York City-based Harvestworks. \nDrinks and snacks are available for purchase from the Golden Pear Café throughout the evening. An innovative\, artist-driven approach to programming that activates the myriad spaces and grounds of the Parrish\, Platform has featured time-based art\, performance\, sound installation\, and participatory programs. \nFor Platform 2019\, the New York City-based artist collective OptoSonic Tea is presenting a two-part project that includes OptoSonic Echoes\, a multi-channel sound installation at the Museum’s outdoor space from August 15 to October 31 and the September 27 performance at the Museum. \nThe project is organized by Corinne Erni\, Senior Curator of ArtsReach and Special Projects. DESCRIPTION:August 4–October 27\, 2019 \nAbstract Climates: Helen Frankenthaler in Provincetown highlights key examples of Helen Frankenthaler’s work produced during summers spent in that coastal town and underscores their impact on her development as a painter. Beginning with work from the summer of 1950\, the exhibition and accompanying catalogue focus on the artist’s output from the late 1950s through 1971. Abstract Climates illuminates Frankenthaler’s exploration of the relationship between landscape and abstraction\, and offers new insights into the major role her work played in the development of Abstract Expressionism in America. Co-curated by Lise Motherwell\, a stepdaughter of the artist\, and Helen Frankenthaler Foundation Executive Director Elizabeth Smith\, the exhibition was on view at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in the summer of 2018\, featuring some 30 paintings and works on paper with additional memorabilia from the artist’s life. At the Parrish\, six large-scale paintings not previously included will also be on view.
