SUMMARY:Summer Jazz | Steve Bernstein’s Sexmob
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n$25 Members | $25 Resident Benefits PassHolders | $30 Adults | $20 Students | $10 Children \nIn collaboration with Hamptons JazzFest\, the Parrish Art Museum presents three thrilling concerts this summer (July through September) on the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace and Event Lawn\, bringing world-class jazz performances and artists to the East End. \nJoin us for a performance by Steve Bernstein’s Sexmob. Experience the genre-bending brilliance of Steven Bernstein & Sexmob\, a band that has redefined jazz performance for nearly three decades. \nAdvance registration is strongly recommended. Limited spaces will be available at the door. All sales are final and non-refundable. \nGuests are strongly encouraged to bring outdoor chairs and blankets as no Museum seating is provided. Outdoor coolers and outside food are prohibited. Food and beverages are available to purchase at the Parrish Café. \nNote: Photography may be taken during the program for promotional purposes by the Parrish Art Museum or Hamptons JazzFest. In the event of inclement weather or any changes to the program\, ticket holders will be notified as soon as possible. \n  \nAbout the Artist\nFormed in 1996 by slide trumpet innovator Steven Bernstein alongside Briggan Krauss (saxophones)\, Tony Scherr (bass)\, and Kenny Wollesen (drums)\, Sexmob remains Bernstein’s primary creative outlet—centered around the expressive\, rarely heard slide trumpet\, which he first discovered in a Woodstock guitar shop in 1977. Sexmob has developed a signature sound; reimagining music by an unexpected range of artists\, from Leadbelly\, Duke Ellington\, and Count Basie to Prince\, Paul McCartney\, Kurt Cobain\, and The Rolling Stones\, as well as iconic film composers like Nino Rota and John Barry. \nNow celebrating over 20 years as a band\, Sexmob continues to evolve. With their unmistakable blend of virtuosic improvisation\, humor\, and groove\, Sexmob delivers performances that are as unpredictable as they are unforgettable. \nSteven Bernstein is a New York–based trumpeter\, slide trumpeter\, composer\, and bandleader known for his genre-blending approach to jazz and his signature use of the rare slide trumpet. He is the founder of ensembles including Sexmob and the Millennial Territory Orchestra\, and has been a key figure in the downtown music scene for decades. A three-time Grammy Award winner\, he has received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album and two for Best Americana Album\, along with multiple DownBeat Critics Poll honors. Throughout his career\, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Lou Reed\, Elton John\, Sting\, Aretha Franklin\, and Bill Frisell. He has performed internationally at major festivals and iconic venues\, including the Apollo Theater and Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble in Woodstock\, New York. \nThe Parrish Art Museum’s programs are made possible\, in part\, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature\, and by the property taxpayers from the Southampton Union Free School District and the Tuckahoe Common School District.

SUMMARY:Curator-Led Tour | Sanford Biggers: Drift
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n\nFree for Members | $10 Guests of Member | $15 for Resident Benefits PassHolders | $30 Adults | Free for Students & Children \nJoin us for a special tour of Sanford Biggers: Drift led by Corinne Erni\, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator of Art and Education. \nAdvance registration is recommended. Limited spaces will be available at the door. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition\nSanford Biggers: Drift presents the acclaimed artist’s first major solo museum exhibition on the East End of Long Island\, featuring new textile works\, prints\, indoor and outdoor sculptures\, and site-specific installations. Biggers (b. 1970\, Los Angeles\, CA) draws on a diverse range of influences\, from Buddhism and Los Angeles graffiti culture to Gee’s Bend quilts and his own collection of African sculpture. Running throughout the exhibition is the cloud motif\, a symbol that has engaged the artist for decades. Beginning with Biggers’ monumental ceiling installation Unsui (Cloud Forest) (2025); the exhibition traces the cloud theme through his Codex series—sculptures and paintings made from repurposed antique quilts; a floor-based sand installation inspired by prayer rugs\, breakdance floors\, and Japanese Buddhist mandalas; and Mirror\, a marble sculpture from his ongoing Chimera series\, which blends elements of African masks and Greco-Roman statuary. \n \nSanford Biggers: Drift is part of the Museum’s USA250: Life\, Liberty\, and the Pursuit of Happiness\, a year-long program organized in response to the United States’ semiquincentennial in 2026. Through this exhibition\, Biggers explores the theme of “Pursuit of Happiness.” \nSanford Biggers: Drift is co-organized by Corinne Erni\, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator of Art and Education\, and Scout Hutchinson\, The FLAG Art Foundation Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Parrish. \nExhibition Support\nSanford Biggers: Drift is made possible\, in part\, thanks to the generous support of Rashid Johnson; The Coby Foundation\, LTD; Robert Lehman Foundation; Sarah Arison; Amy and Steven Horowitz; Sarika Singh and Vivek Bantwal\, Goldman Sachs Gives; George Wells and Manfred Rantner; Susan and Frank Dunlevy; Stacey and Rob Goergen; Miyoung Lee & Neil Simpkins; The Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family; Aima Raza and Agha Khan; Beth Redmond; Robin and Frederic Seegal; Kathleen Tait; Jane Wesman and Donald Savelson; Martha McLanahan; Suzi and David Cordish; Stephanie Horton; and Marjorie and Michael Levine. \nWe are also grateful for the in-kind support provided by Marianne Boesky Gallery\, New York\, and David Castillo Gallery\, Miami.
