DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \n$35 Members | $45 Adults | $40 Seniors | $20 Students | $10 Children \nSalon Series continues the spring season with an intimate performance by the Borisevich Duo\, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Margarita Loukachkina and violinist Nikita Borisevich. Borisevich and Loukachkina are winners of numerous international music competitions and have collectively performed on world renown stages such as The Kennedy Center (Washington\, DC)\, Mozarteum University Salzburg (Salzburg\, Austria)\, Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory (Moscow\, Russia)\, Shriver Hall (Baltimore\, Maryland)\, California Institute of Technology (Pasadena\, CA)\, JCC Greater Washington (Rockville\, MD) and Manuel de Falla Auditorium (Granada\, Spain)\, among others. \nMost recently Borisevich and Loukachkina made their debut at the Venetian Arts Society in Florida\, the Chamber Music Society of Maryland\, and gave performances in Metz\, France and Luxembourg. The Borisevich Duo was named a winner of the Beverly Hills National Auditions\, in addition to making their debut at the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago (IL)\, the Alden Theatre in McLean (VA)\, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (NY)\, the Gualala Chamber Music Society in Gualala (CA)\, the Tuesday Concert Series in Washington\, DC and the Evensong Concert Series in Silver Spring (MD). In addition to an active performing career\, Borisevich is a dedicated educator and professor of Chamber music at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore\, Maryland. Loukachkina holds a Doctorate degree in piano performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. \nSalon Series is generously supported by Louis K. and Susan P. DESCRIPTION:Thank you for supporting the Museum’s exhibitions\, education\, and enrichment programs throughout the year.\nAs a qualified voter of the Southampton Union Free School District or Tuckahoe Common School District\, we hope that you will show your support for the Parrish Art Museum by voting in the upcoming annual election to approve funding for the Museum on May 21\, 2024. \nSOUTHAMPTON\nPROPOSITION NO. 9: Resolved that the Board of Education shall be authorized to appropriate funds in the amount of Four Hundred Forty-Six Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Nine ($446\,189) Dollars for program expenses of the Parrish Art Museum during the 2024-2025 school year; which sum is to be raised by a levy of a tax upon the taxable real property within the Southampton Union Free School District’s boundaries. \nTUCKAHOE\nPROPOSITION No. 4: Resolved that the Board of Trustees of the Tuckahoe Common School District at Southampton\, Town of Southampton\, County of Suffolk\, be authorized and directed to levy a sum of Ten Thousand Five Hundred ($10\,500) Dollars for the District’s participation in the Parrish Art Museum. \nPLEASE COME OUT AND VOTE ON MAY 21\, 2024\nSOUTHAMPTON (10 AM–9 PM)\nYou can also vote by absentee ballot. Carmen Herrera: Estructuras Monumentales features four large-scale sculptures in red\, blue\, yellow\, and green in the Museum’s South Meadow. Advanced registration is required. \nNot a Parrish member? Join today →\n  \nCarmen Herrera (American\, b. Cuba\, 1915–2022) is known for her hard-edge paintings\, prints\, and sculptures—often representing geometric shapes with both symmetrical and asymmetrical abstractions. The four works installed in the Meadow\, Angulo Azul (2017)\, Angulo Amarillo (2017)\, Estructura Verde (1966/2018)\, and Gemini (Red) (1971/2019) are part of Herrera’s series Estructuras\, which she initially envisioned as sketches and paintings in the 1960s. In 1971\, Herrera fabricated four Estructuras in wood—three wall-based works and one free-standing. However\, it was only in the final fifteen years of the artist’s life that she was able to realize her vision for these monumental sculptures on a larger scale. Co-presented with AIA Peconic\, this program provides continuing education credits for licensed architects. Visitors are welcome to enjoy lunch from the Parrish Café during the program held in the Lichtenstein Theater. \nAbout the Authors\nRobert Cody\, AIA\, NCARB\, LEED AP\, is Partner at Amoia Cody Architecture\, Professor of Practice\, and Former Associate Dean and Chair at the New York Institute of Technology School of Architecture and Design. For over 30 years\, he has worked on projects from wood-frame houses to precast concrete office buildings\, interior renovations to freestanding towers\, design competitions to physical construction\, and ecological design\, to The Museum of Modern Art. Cody has practiced and taught architectural design theory\, building construction\, and architecture studios with particular concentration in the comprehensive design studio. He has coordinated and taught travel studios in Italy and Scandinavia. He has also been the New York Tech NCARB AXP Coordinator and AIAS Faculty Advisor since 2012. \nAngela Amoia is Partner at Amoia Cody Architecture and Adjunct Associate Professor of Architecture at the New York Institute of Technology School of Architecture and Design. Amoia has practiced and taught history\, theory\, architecture studios\, including the comprehensive design studio\, and study abroad in Italy since graduating from Columbia University with a Master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Design. Her role as project manager ranged in scale from skyscrapers to large-scale academic facilities and residential houses and loft buildings. \nAbout the Book\nIn the contemporary practice of architecture\, digital design and fabrication are emergent technologies in transforming how architects present a design and form a material strategy that is responsible\, equitable\, sustainable\, resilient\, and forward-looking. Alvar Aalto and the Future of Architecture exposes dialogue between history\, theory\, design\, construction\, technology\, and sensory experience by means of digital simulations that enhance the assessment and values of our material choices. SUMMARY:The Art of Printmaking: Monoprints
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n*Must register by June 7th\n\n$270 | All materials included  \nJune 14\, 21\, & 28 (Three Week Series) \nInspired by the several prints featured throughout The Art of Food: From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation\, explore variations of monoprint printmaking and the fundamentals of line\, shape\, and the power of contrast combining hard and soft edges.  \nWorkshop participants will be introduced to reductive monotype and drypoint\, a linear technique of drawing directly on a surface with an etching needle. We will layer forms from cut mylar stencils and work with translucency. This allows for freedom with variations of color and compositional elements. Students can create a small varied edition of prints on the Parrish printing press. This workshop series is designed for adults and welcomes participants of all skill levels. \nAbout the Artist\nAndrea Cote is an interdisciplinary artist and printmaker. She has been creating professionally and teaching for over 25 years. Based in Hampton Bays\, she has exhibited her work in North and South America at venues including Guild Hall Islip Art Museum\, Delaware Art Museum\, Abrons Arts Center\, The Print Center\, The Moore Gallery\, and PanAmerican Art Projects. She is the recipient of several grants including NYSCA Creative Individuals Grants in 2014 and 2018\, two SOS grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts and a fellowship at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. She received a NYSCA Artist Support Grant with the Patchogue Arts Council for a community art project and a residency at The Church in Sag Harbor in 2023. She will be featured in the Parrish Art Museum Road Show in 2024. \nA gift of a 19th Century cast-iron printing press in 2016 sparked a focus on printmaking in her studio practice and marked the beginning of Starwheel Press & Projects\, and a place for collaborations\, special projects\, and workshops in the studio. \nAs a teaching artist\, she aims to inspire students to develop their own voice through experimentation while providing a foundation of technique and artistic vocabulary. She aims to make printmaking accessible to everyone\, at all levels\, on the East End. \nThe Museum reserves the right to cancel a class at any time due to insufficient enrollment. The exhibition includes mural-sized representational oil paintings\, expressionistic watercolors and pastel drawings\, and intimate mixed-media abstractions\, from the unique visual language of women artists from the Parrish’s permanent collection. In a conversation centered around the exhibition\, the program celebrates and recognizes the accomplishments of women artists within the Parrish collection and across the East End. \nFriday Nights are generously supported by The Corcoran Group.
