As a qualified voter of the Southampton Union Free School District or Tuckahoe Common School District\, we hope that you will show your support for the Parrish Art Museum by voting in the upcoming annual election to approve funding for the Museum on May 20\, 2025. \nSOUTHAMPTON\nPROPOSITION NO. 9: Resolved that the Board of Education shall be authorized to appropriate funds in the amount of Four Hundred Fifty-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty ($454\,920) Dollars for program expenses of the Parrish Art Museum during the 2025-2026 school year; which sum is to be raised by a levy of a tax upon the taxable real property within the Southampton Union Free School District’s boundaries. \nTUCKAHOE\nPROPOSITION: Resolved that the Board of Trustees of the Tuckahoe Common School District at Southampton\, Town of Southampton\, County of Suffolk\, be authorized and directed to levy a sum of Ten Thousand Seven Hundred ($10\,700) Dollars for the District’s participation in the Parrish Art Museum. \n  \nPLEASE COME OUT AND VOTE ON MAY 20\, 2025\nSOUTHAMPTON (10 AM–9 PM)\nYou can also vote by absentee ballot. From these shores they produced a new alphabet; symbols belonging to a universal language of line\, color\, shape\, and gesture. In 1944\, two of the leading figures within the Abstract Expressionist movement\, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner\, traded their Manhattan apartment and loft studios tor a rustic farmhouse and barn studio in the Springs\, a rural hamlet of East Hampton. In the coming years\, throngs of abstract artists would relocate to Eastern Long Island or establish seasonal studios here. \nThe works featured in this exhibition\, highlights from the permanent collection of Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center\, celebrate some of the abstract artists who lived and worked on the East End. Join today → \nAbout Sean Scully\nSean Scully’s (Irish\, b. 1945) work is in the collection of virtually every major museum around the world. In 2014 he became the first Western artist to have a career-length retrospective in China. He was awarded the International Artist of the Year Prize in Hong Kong in 2018. His important solo exhibitions include Landline at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington\, D.C.\, which traveled to the Wadsworth Atheneum\, Hartford; Landline and Other Works\, De Pont Museum\, Tilburg\, Netherlands; Sea Star\, National Gallery\, London; the retrospective Vita Duplex\, Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe\, Germany; and a presentation of sculptures at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park\, England. Among other exhibitions are: Eleuthera\, new figurative paintings shown at the Albertina\, Vienna; the retrospective Long Light at the Villa e Collezione Panza\, Varese\, Italy; and Human\, paintings and sculptures presented at San Giorgio Maggiore for the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. His first exhibition in central Europe\, Passenger\, at the Hungarian National Gallery\, Budapest\, traveled to the Benaki Museum\, Athens\, and the Museum of Contemporary Art\, Zagreb. \nA fifty-year career retrospective\, Sean Scully: The Shape of Ideas\, was organized and shown at the Philadelphia Museum of Art  and traveled to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth\, his exhibitions have included Material World\, Thorvaldsens Museum\, Copenhagen; Painting and Sculpture\, Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej\, Toruń\, Poland; Song of Color\, Langen Foundation\, Neuss\, Germany; and A Wound in a Dance with Love\, Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna. In addition to writing and recording his own folk music\, he has also recorded original children’s songs and stories. He is also featured as a guest musician on a variety of other albums and recordings. Please call if you would like to bring guests. \nAbout the Artist\nJennifer de Klaver is a painter based in Southampton\, New York\, whose abstract works merge gestural forms with a profound sense of calm and inevitability. “I am inspired by color\, sound\, and movement\,” she explains. “My art flows from the heart\, guided by intuition.” This intuitive process infuses her paintings with a deep connection to the soul\, evident in the emotive textures\, marks\, and meditative energy that characterize her work. \nde Klaver’s art delves into the most intimate connections to source. Through a hybrid form of abstract expressionism\, she plays with contrast\, color\, connectivity\, and a language tied to light—all inspired by the beauty of nature. \nGrowing up in Belgium\, de Klaver’s appreciation for the arts began early. As the daughter of a painter\, she traveled extensively throughout Europe\, immersing herself in the works of the great masters in Paris\, Rome\, Florence\, Barcelona\, and the Netherlands. For de Klaver\, painting is a form of meditation\, healing\, and inner storytelling—a process vividly expressed through the dynamic movements and calligraphic forms in her work. \nCurrently\, de Klaver paints out of a former commercial garage in Southampton\, New York. Currently on view\, is Janelle Lynch: Endless Forms Most Beautiful\, a collaboration between Frampton Co. with London and Hong Kong-based Flowers Gallery. This exhibition of works made by Janelle Lynch in Amagansett\, New York\, during 2022–2023\, will include cyanotypes\, a camera-less 19th century photographic process\, of botanical and wildlife remains and Lynch’s own body through which she affirms the fundamental value of all life in its various manifestations\, including the afterlife. The unique works are evidence of physical existence and\, as abstractions in hues of blue and white\, also suggest the ethereal world. Since its introduction in 2022\, the Mini Print Vending Machine has grown in popularity with over 17 million views on Instagram. Anastasia\, who has a print studio in Portland\, Maine\, has a deep connection to Amagansett\, where she spent her summers at her grandparents’ home. She has a long-standing appreciation for the Parrish Art Museum and will be creating custom prints for the Parrish! \nFallen Fruit Talk & Art Project | 11 AM–1:30 PM\nJoin the art collaboration Fallen Fruit in a talk and participatory art project plus tastings of local foods! \nDavid Allen Burns and Austin Young / Fallen Fruit present an informal discussion about their twenty-year practice of commissioned art projects in the public realm. These immersive experience-based artworks are created for cities around the world. The selected works are often considered contemporary portraits of a city or place. Using strategies of collage and collaboration\, Austin and David from Fallen Fruit will create a topical magazine with participants. Join us and contribute to the digital zine created specifically for the Parrish Art Museum and the East End of Long Island. \n“For our work\, we are committed to making artworks that celebrate the public and local history. DESCRIPTION:Thank you for supporting the Museum’s exhibitions\, education\, and enrichment programs throughout the year.\nAs a qualified voter of the Southampton Union Free School District or Tuckahoe Common School District\, we hope that you will show your support for the Parrish Art Museum by voting in the upcoming annual election to approve funding for the Museum on May 21\, 2024. \nSOUTHAMPTON\nPROPOSITION NO. 9: Resolved that the Board of Education shall be authorized to appropriate funds in the amount of Four Hundred Forty-Six Thousand One Hundred Eighty-Nine ($446\,189) Dollars for program expenses of the Parrish Art Museum during the 2024-2025 school year; which sum is to be raised by a levy of a tax upon the taxable real property within the Southampton Union Free School District’s boundaries. \nTUCKAHOE\nPROPOSITION No. 4: Resolved that the Board of Trustees of the Tuckahoe Common School District at Southampton\, Town of Southampton\, County of Suffolk\, be authorized and directed to levy a sum of Ten Thousand Five Hundred ($10\,500) Dollars for the District’s participation in the Parrish Art Museum. \nPLEASE COME OUT AND VOTE ON MAY 21\, 2024\nSOUTHAMPTON (10 AM–9 PM)\nYou can also vote by absentee ballot. The tour will include highlights of their permanent collection and an introduction to their special exhibition\, Barkley L. Hendricks: Portraits at the Frick. Barkley L. Hendricks (1945—2017) revolutionized contemporary portraiture with his vivid depictions of Black subjects that emphasize the dignity and individuality of his sitters. Beginning in the late 1960s\, his work drew from the challenged traditions of European art\, and The Frick Collection—with its iconic portraits by Rembrandt\, Bronzino\, Van Dyck\, and others—was one of his favorite museums. \nMore about the Frick Madison: “The Frick has created a sequence of gallery spaces at Frick Madison that reflects the museum’s traditional emphasis on intimate encounters with both art and architecture and allows direct access to objects without the interference of vitrines or stanchions.” – frick.org \nThis special opportunity for Parrish Members to glean new perspectives on old masters takes place when the Frick Madison is closed to the public. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n$15 Members | $25 Adults | $15 Seniors\, Students | $5 Children | $15 Member’s Guest \nSummer Jazz on the Terrace concludes its outdoor concerts with a performance by the JD Allen Trio\, in collaboration with Hamptons Jazz Fest. \nAbout JD Allen\nHailed by the New York Times as “a tenor saxophonist with an enigmatic\, elegant and hard-driving style\,” JD Allen is a bright light on today’s international jazz scene. His unique and compelling voice on the instrument – the result of a patient and painstaking confrontation with the fundamentals of the art – has earned Allen years of critical attention signaling his ascension to the upper ranks of the contemporary jazz world. Originally from Detroit\, Allen’s apprenticeship\, anchored by his lengthy tenure with Betty Carter\, occurred largely in New York\, where he worked with legends Lester Bowie\, George Cables\, Ron Carter\, Louis Hayes\, Frank Foster Big Band\, Winard Harper\, Dave Douglas\, Cindy Blackman\, Butch Morris\, David Murray\, Wallace Roney\, Rufus Reid\, and Geri Allen. In 2008\, Allen began an association with Sunnyside Records to record his new trio\, coined the “Three Headed Monster” (Burning Ambulance)\, for I AM – I AM\, featuring Gregg August\, bass\, and Rudy Royston\, drums. \nAbout Hamptons Jazz Fest\nHamptons Jazz Fest\, produced by The Jam Session\, Inc\, is a series of performances that bring world-class musicians in the fields of Jazz\, Latin\, and World music to a diverse cross-section of populations in the East End of Long Island\, held in iconic venues throughout July\, August and September. SUMMARY:Jazz | Sasha Berliner Quartet
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n$15 Members | $25 Adults | $15 Seniors\, Students | $5 Children | $15 Member’s Guest \nSummer Jazz on the Terrace continues with a third\, live outdoor performance by the Sasha Berliner Quartet\, in collaboration with Hamptons Jazz Fest. \nSasha Berliner is a musician\, composer\, producer\, and band leader from San Francisco\, California. A rock drummer turned vibraphonist\, Berliner was first introduced to the instrument through her high school Oakland School for the Arts as part of the jazz program\, soon becoming her life passion. Berliner moved to New York City in 2016 to attend the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and study under acclaimed vibraphonist Stefon Harris\, whose influence\, in particular with regard to harmony\, is something that she felt was “nearly prophetic” in helping her liberate her unique style on the instrument. \nBerliner got her major start on the NYC scene when she debuted at NYC Winter Jazz Fest in 2018\, followed soon after by Atlanta Jazz Fest and Burlington Jazz Fest in the same year\, all before age 20. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n$15 Members | $25 Adults | $15 Seniors\, Students | $5 Children | $15 Member’s Guest \nSummer Jazz on the Terrace continues with a third\, live outdoor performance by the Spike Wilner Trio\, in collaboration with Hamptons Jazz Fest. \nMichael “Spike” Wilner was born in New York City and began playing piano from an early age\, inspired by a television program about the life of Scott Joplin to learn to play Ragtime Music. Wilner would continue through his childhood and adolescent years\, driving him to pursue a career in music. Wilner later attended the New School For Social Research’s Jazz and Contemporary Music department in its inaugural year. Wilner would befriend and perform with many of today’s leading jazz musicians\, including Peter Bernstein\, Jesse Davis\, Larry Goldings\, Brad Mehldau\, Roy Hargrove\, Sam Yahel\, and Joe Strasser among others. Wilner’s professional career has led him to tour in both the United States and Europe\, and perform\, record\, and choreograph pieces with well-known musicians such as Tony Bennett\, Wynton Marsalis\, and Duke Ellington. \nAbout Hamptons Jazz Fest\nHamptons Jazz Fest\, produced by The Jam Session\, Inc\, is a series of performances that bring world-class musicians in the fields of Jazz\, Latin\, and World music to a diverse cross-section of populations in the East End of Long Island\, held in iconic venues throughout July\, August\, and September. Collaborating with regional non-profit cultural organizations\, Hamptons Jazz Fest presents dozens of concerts at an affordable rate and engages the diverse groups of the East End in their performance and educational events. \nThis is an outdoor concert on the Museum’s Terrace and event lawn; no museum seating is provided. For his participation in the Parrish’s 125th Anniversary exhibition\, Artists Choose Parrish\, Martinez paired drawings from his archives with artists of previous generations\, highlighting largely unfamiliar\, pre-1970 collection works by artists including Wilfrid Zogbaum\, Abraham Hankins\, and Frederick Stuart Church. \n“Looking at the final selection of drawings from the Parrish collection and my own side by side\, it is easy to see the commonality in our approach to this medium. With overlapping subject matter\, similar constructs\, and a resonance in mark-making\, I found a sense of the familiar that fascinated me.” \nEngage in conversation with Martinez and other art enthusiasts. \nRegistration required.
