DESCRIPTION:  \nThe New World Symphony (NWS) Ensemble—fresh from a concert by the entire NWS orchestra at Carnegie Hall—will appear in a special concert at the Parrish Art Museum. The 12-person chamber ensemble performs as part of Salon Series\, the Museum’s classical music program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate\, casual setting. \nThe New World Symphony\, America’s Orchestral Academy\, prepares graduates of music programs for leadership roles in professional orchestras and ensembles. In the 31 years since its co-founding by Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas and Lin and Ted Arison\, New World Symphony has helped launch the careers of more than 1\,100 alumni worldwide. A laboratory for the way music is taught\, presented and experienced\, the New World Symphony consists of 87 young musicians\, and offers in-depth exposure to traditional and modern repertoire\, professional development training and personalized experiences working with leading guest conductors\, soloists and visiting faculty. DESCRIPTION:Salon Series\, the Parrish Art Museum’s concert program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate\, casual setting\, presents trumpeter Brandon Ridenour\, and pianist Jeremy Jordan. \nA virtuoso trumpeter and composer\, Brandon Ridenour’s brilliance and self-assurance on the concert stage led to his victory at the 2014 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition. His wide-ranging activities as a soloist and chamber musician\, paired with his passion for composing and arranging\, are manifested in his versatile performances and unique repertoire. A graduate of The Juilliard School\, Brandon won the 2006 International Trumpet Guild solo competition. \nJeremy Jordan has appeared as soloist and chamber musician at notable venues in the United States and Europe including Carnegie Hall\, Orchestra Hall in Chicago\, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, and the Rudolfinum in Prague. Jeremy Jordan received his Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School of Music as a recipient of the Van Cliburn and Irene Diamond Scholarships. \n\n\n\n\nSalon Series is generously supported by Louis K. and Susan P. DESCRIPTION:  \nSalon Series\, the Parrish Art Museum’s concert program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate\, casual setting\, presents classical guitar and cello duo\, Boyd Meets Girl. \nBoyd Meets Girl pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf. The duo performs an eclectic and engaging range of repertoire\, from the baroque through modern day\, including many of their own arrangements. Both acclaimed soloists in their own right\, Boyd has been described as “truly evocative” by The Washington Post\, and as “a player who deserves to be heard” by Classical Guitar Magazine\, while Metcalf\, also a member of the ensembles Sybarite5 and Break of Reality\, has been called “brilliant” by Gramophone. Boyd Meets Girl has toured throughout the USA\, Australia\, India and Nepal\, including appearances at the Newport Music Festival (Rhode Island)\, the Gharana Music Festival (Kathmandu\, Nepal) and the Monsoon Music Festival (Kolkata\, India). In 2017 Boyd Meets Girl released its debut album on the Grammy award-winning label Sono Luminous\, in conjunction with a 40-concert world tour. The album reached #3 on the Billboard Traditional Classical chart and was described as “winning” by Classical Guitar Magazine and received the following review in Gramophone: “They play like one\, with a harmony of purpose as sure as their intonation.” The album has been broadcast on New York’s WQXR and SiriusXM\, among others\, and was selected as “Album of the Week” on California’s KDFC and Australia’s national ABC Classic FM.
