Guests will view the comprehensive survey comprised of over 100 paintings\, prints\, and works on paper drawn from public and private U.S. collections. \nNote: The tour takes place before that evening’s panel discussion in the Lichtenstein Theater starting at 6:30 PM. Torreano’s tour precedes his participation in Part II of the Museum’s 125th Anniversary Exhibition\, Artists Choose Parrish\, opening August 20\, 2023. Torreano joins 11 other renowned artists who will select works from the Parrish collection to be shown along with their own.  \nJohn Torreano (b. 1941\, Michigan) is an American artist\, best known for utilizing faceted gems in a variety of mediums and methods in order to create “movement oriented perception” in his works. He combines realism infused with abstraction to create works that conflate time and space. Come engage in conversation with Torreano and other art enthusiasts as we continue to celebrate the rich artistic legacy of the region. \nRegistration required. Limited space available. SUMMARY:Optic Garden | Preview at Exhibition The Barn
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nParrish Contemporaries Circle members are invited to join Frampton Co for open-air cocktails and an exclusive preview of Optic Garden\, presented in collaboration with The Rug Company\, at Exhibition The Barn in Bridgehampton. Optic Garden showcases art and design in equal measure with rugs designed by leading creatives for The Rug Company\, including “Undercover\,” a new bespoke rug designed by Elena Frampton\, Principal at Frampton Co\, alongside contemporary paintings by Christine Keefe\, and ceramics by Kalya O’Donoghue. \nInspired to bring an element of the three-dimensional to a typically two-dimensional object\, Elena Frampton designed “Undercover” using a trompe l’oeil effect. The design marries optical illusion with traditional ornamentation\, as a floral-patterned rug appears to peel back from the floor at opposing corners\, offering both a decorative and architectural statement within interior space. Echoing the inspiration behind “Undercover\,” the exhibition recontextualizes form\, function\, and ornamentation in the display. Rugs cascade down the wall and onto the floor\, putting the artistry and creative vision of the designs in full view. The selection of rugs\, curated by Elena Frampton\, includes creative perspectives across a range of industries with additional designs by Diane von Furstenberg\, Rodarte\, Mary Katrantzou\, Paul Smith\, Sarabande\, and The Rug Company. \nAbout Exhibition\n\nA stone’s throw from the ocean\, Exhibition The Barn is situated in the serene hamlet of Bridgehampton in Long Island\, New York. Through high-profile curatorial partnerships and immersive exhibitions\, the gallery brings a modern and engaging contribution to the east end’s artistic heritage. \n\nThe event is for active Contemporaries Circle members. Chiffert\, Chiffert Architectural Engineering and Construction Services\, Southampton \nMarc A Chiffert\, was born in France\, grew up in Brazil\, went to school in Canada and moved to the US in 1983.  Marc grew up in an art family\, where his mother was an international art dealer specializing in French and Israeli contemporary art\, and later Brazilian art too.   Marc’s mother had a gallery in Fairfield County\, Gallerie Vendome for 20 years.  By Profession\, Marc is an NYS licensed engineer with a professional architectural engineering practice in Southampton.  Marc is also the Co-Chairperson of the Southampton Village Planning Commission and a member of the Town of Southampton Licensing Review Board.  Marc sits on various boards\, including the Friends of McGill University. \nSylvia Wong\, Owner\, The Roundtree\, Amagansett  \nSylvia Wong is the owner of The Roundtree\, a Small Luxury Hotel property that opened in Amagansett in 2020.  After a decades long career as a corporate attorney\, first at Paul\, Weiss\, Rifkind\, Wharton & Garrison\, a New York City law firm\, and then at IBM’s Armonk and Asia offices\, she joined the Board of Directors of WTI\, Inc.\, a private investment firm\, in 2015 and has been working closely with it to identify\, evaluate and negotiate real estate investments. \nHer love for traveling and the wonderful memories she collected from those travels inspired her to open The Roundtree. SUMMARY:Encounters with Artists: Insights into the Artistic Process
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n  \nJoin us as ten established artist members of the Parrish Art Museum share aspects of their artistic process and inspirations through conversation and visual representation. Each artist will showcase some of their recent works and describe or demonstrate the way they engage in their art. This event will be an aesthetically immersive experience for participants introducing them to a variety of art forms including painting\, sculpting\, digital media\, hand-built ceramic\, multi-media collages\, and 3-D printing. \nParticipating artists include Bill Albertini\, Roz Dimon\,  Robin Gianis\, Brianna Hernández\, Mary Jaffe\, Setha Low\, Scott McIntire\, Anne Seelbach\, Janice Stanton\, and Tmima.  \nBill Albertini\, Mattituck\nAlbertini creates sculptures using various technologies including 3D printing\, laser cutting and robot milling. In addition to plastics he incorporates bronze-infused stainless steel and wood into his works. \nRoz Dimon\, Shelter Island\nDimon is a digital artist who creates multi-layered interactive paintings in a new media process created by the artist. Her works seek to connect with others in an intimate\, meaningful way that goes beyond the physical. \nRobin Gianis\, East Hampton\nGianis creates hand-built ceramics finished with a variety of surface techniques inspired by the beauty of the natural world. \nBrianna Hernández\, Shinnecock Nation\, Southampton\nHernández creates sculptures gilded with silver\, gold\, and copper leaf that focus on the experience of providing end-of-life care\, grieving processes\, and morning rituals.  \nMary Jaffe\, Bridgehampton\nJaffe creates functional and sculptural ceramics inspired by both vast landscapes and small intrinsic beauties of the natural world. \nSetha Low\, East Hampton\nLow’s artwork takes a critical view of social\, political\, and cultural issues and employs both abstract and figurative representations to evoke different emotional responses. \nScott McIntire\, Greenport\nMcIntire’s paintings are influenced by environmental issues. His series of Energy Circles explore the unseen sources of energy that surround us such as radio waves\, cellular transmissions\, sounds and smells. \nAnne Seelbach\, North Haven\nSeelbach is a painter and print artist whose work is influenced by the environment including the tidal waters and shoreline of eastern Long Island. \nJanice Stanton\, Bridgehampton\nStanton’s collages are layered\, abstract pieces which blur the lines between photography\, painting\, and collage. Handmade paper\, text and markings with the artist’s hand are key elements. \nTmima\, Bellmore\nTmima’s sculptural artwork forces the contemporary eye and mind to deal with personal experiences. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nJoin us for a private tour of Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio\, a communal art space based on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation. The event will feature a conversation with Jeremy Dennis\, lead artist\, who will share the history of Ma’s House and its residency program for Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color. In addition to Dennis’ work\, you will see “Point of Reference”\, the solo exhibition of new works by December resident artist\, Jacoub Reyes. \nJeremy Dennis. Photo by Lori Hawkins. \nJeremy Dennis is a contemporary fine art photographer and a tribal member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation. In his work\, he explores indigenous identity\, culture\, and assimilation\, and in 2018\, he participated in the Parrish Road Show with an exhibition at the Arts Center at Duck Creek\, East Hampton. He was one of 10 recipients of a 2016 Dreamstarter Grant from the national non-profit organization Running Strong for American Indian Youth. He was awarded $10\,000 to pursue his project\, On This Site\, which uses photography and an interactive online map to showcase culturally significant Native American sites on Long Island\, a topic of special meaning for Dennis\, who was raised on the Shinnecock Nation Reservation. \nJacoub Reyes is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Florida. He finds and makes materials and tools as part of an experimental aspect of his process. Reyes salvages and transforms found wood to reflect how marginalized and oppressed communities have been cast aside throughout history. With these\, he carves detailed large-scale allegorical woodcuts based on the acculturation of the Caribbean and the world at large. Experience the space where Jaramillo created the never-before-seen paintings and drawings for the exhibition The Harmony between Line and Space\, on view at the Museum November 7\, 2021 through February 27\, 2022. This event will circle back to the themes and strategies introduced on October 21 by local business owners and provide a comfortable and informal forum for sharing your own successes and challenges.
