Hernández\, Assistant Curator. \nCome and engage in conversation with Brianna and other members of the Museum. \nSpace is limited. Reservations are required. Please register early. If you can no longer attend\, please let us know as soon as possible so another member may join the tour. \nNote: This is a member only event and we cannot accommodate guests for this tour. Your membership must be active upon registration and on the date of the tour. \nAbout the Exhibition: Spanning mural-sized representational oil paintings\, expressionistic watercolors and pastel drawings\, and intimate mixed-media abstractions\, Beyond the Horizon will take viewers on a journey through visual styles and thematic experiences of the landscape. Featured women artists from the permanent collection capture the essence and tone of the environment through their own unique visual language. \nLarge-scale works by Renate Aller\, April Gornik\, and Jane Wilson will demonstrate how these women artists masterfully composed mural-sized works\, countering the common association of large-scale with the masculine. A selection of paintings by Jennifer Bartlett\, Nell Blaine\, Edith Prellwitz\, Susan Vecsey\, and Jane Wilson expand techniques to include expressionistic mark-making and atmospheric washes of color across meadows\, forests\, and mountain ranges. Collages\, relief works\, and textured surfaces by Darlene Charneco\, Sandi Haber Fifield\, Laurie Lambrecht\, and Michelle Stuart will celebrate abstraction and conceptual interpretations of the land and nature. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nMuseum members are invited to join us at the Parrish for an Exhibition Preview and reception for Simón Vega: Tropical Space Castaways\, Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York\, and Beyond the Horizon: Interpretations of the Landscape from Women in the Permanent Collection. \n11 AM to 1 PM: Gallery preview and reception\n12 PM: Talk with artist Simón Vega\, moderated by Corinne Erni\, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator\, Art and Education \nNot a Parrish member? Join today →\nSalvadoran artist Simón Vega creates drawings\, objects\, sculptural installations\, and happenings inspired by the self-made informal architecture\, local market stands\, and vendor carts found in the streets and beaches of Central America. With his work\, Vega examines the lasting effects of colonialism and the Cold War in Central America\, and parodies disparities between first and second-world cultures\, economies\, and social experiences. At the Parrish\, Vega will present Gemini Duplex Chanti Capsule\, Tropical Mercury Capsule\, crafted from repurposed roofing sheets\, toys\, and other objects\, and Tropical Spacesuits\, made of recycled Hawaiian shirts\, as well as a photography series documenting his largest sculpture to date\, Palm 3 World Station\, for greater context of his sculptures. The artist will also create a rover with found materials from the Museum’s surrounding area. \nSimón Vega: Tropical Space Castaways is organized by Corinne Erni\, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator\, Art and Education and Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Martha Stotsky\, Deputy Director of Arts Education\, with additional support from Kaitlin Halloran\, Assistant Curator and Publications Coordinator\, Brianna L. Hernández\, Assistant Curator\, and Casey Kleister Meyer\, Education Programs Manager. \nComprised of 27 paintings and prints\, Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York focuses on the cityscapes Porter created of Manhattan between the mid-1940s to mid-1970s. Drawn from the Museum’s vast Porter collection—consisting of over 240 works—Across the Avenues will include 23 paintings and four lithographic prints that illuminate the artist’s ability to capture New York City’s bustling energy\, both day and night. Highlighting different moments throughout the day\, Porter’s use of varied hues of blue\, red\, and yellow evoke the early\, hazy morning skies above the skyscrapers and the dark\, moody night atmospheres. \nAcross the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York is curated by Kaitlin Halloran\, Assistant Curator and Publications Coordinator. \nSpanning mural-sized representational oil paintings\, expressionistic watercolors and pastel drawings\, and intimate mixed-media abstractions\, Beyond the Horizon: Interpretations of the Landscape from Women in the Permanent Collection will take viewers on a journey through visual styles and thematic experiences of the landscape. Times declared it a “hands-down winner.” Alex shares his passion for healthy clean food through his dishes by not using butter\, flour and only the finest quality and locally sourced ingredients.\n\nShannon Willey is the visionary behind Sea Green Designs\, where the essence of coastal living meets eco-conscious elegance. Since launching her business in 2000\, Shannon has skillfully blended her academic roots – a fusion of Fashion Design from FIT and Environmental Studies from SUNY Buffalo – to revolutionize the concept of home aesthetics. With an innate love for color and texture\, and an expert eye for proportions\, Shannon’s design philosophy is deeply influenced by the serene and timeless beauty of the coastal Hamptons. \nGianna Volpe is a passionate and award-winning writer\, multi-platform reporter and host of “The Heart of The East End” on Long Island’s only local NPR radio station\, WLIW-FM. She broadcasts LIVE from the WLIW-FM studio in Southampton 9-11 every weekday morning featuring music from all decades and genres\, as well as interviews with folks from all walks of life\, which were lauded by the New York Press Association twice-over in 2023. Encore episodes of The Heart air every midnight on 88.3 FM throughout the East End and Coastal Connecticut\, 96.9 FM in Western Suffolk and are streamed/archived online at WLIW.org/radio. \nKeith E. Davis opened the first Golden Pear on Mainstreet\, Southampton in 1987\, followed by East Hampton in 1991\, and Bridgehampton in 1996. Keith learned the restaurant business through many years of experience that began at the age of 14 washing dishes and preparing food at a local seafood restaurant. During his college years\, Keith worked four summer seasons at the famous Dune Deck Hotel located on the Atlantic Ocean in Westhampton Beach. There he refined his front-of-house skills and worked very closely with the chef. Keith learned off-premise-catering while working as a sous-chef at Barefoot Contessa\, a beautiful gourmet food store-market-caterer\, before an opportunity opened up for\nKeith to take over the fabulous location on the corner we all now know as the Golden Pear Café Southampton. \nCarmindy Bowyer is a New York-based editorial makeup artist\, beauty/lifestyle expert\, TV personality\, author\, speaker\, and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in beauty. For over a decade\, millions of viewers counted on Carmindy to teach them her insider makeup tips and tricks on TLC’s hit show “What Not To Wear” but what really inspired her viewers was her confidence-boosting attitude towards everyone. Carmindy taught them how to see their unique beauty and stop any negative commentary going on in their heads. She showed that people of all ages\, skin tones\, and features had the right to love and celebrate themselves. Carmindy is currently working out of Water Mill\, NY on her national projects. \nRandy King has been involved in every facet of the fitness industry on the east end of Long Island and New York City for at least 30 years. He managed the Gym Source Southampton location\, a former leader in residential and commercial fitness distribution\, and was responsible for driving sales and maintaining positive customer interactions. Randy branched out on his own in 2021 forming Shinnecock Functional Fitness\, LLC a rubber gym floor installation company. He actively coordinates and designs flooring options with some of the biggest builders and architects in the Hamptons. Shinnecock Functional Fitness is also aligned in partnership with Gym Tech Fitness which both provide a truly boutique home gym design experience like no other. Randy has been married to his wife Nora for 23 years and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Shinnecock Indian Nation Council of Trustees.

The tour will include highlights of their permanent collection and an introduction to their special exhibition\, Barkley L. Hendricks: Portraits at the Frick. Barkley L. Hendricks (1945—2017) revolutionized contemporary portraiture with his vivid depictions of Black subjects that emphasize the dignity and individuality of his sitters. Beginning in the late 1960s\, his work drew from the challenged traditions of European art\, and The Frick Collection—with its iconic portraits by Rembrandt\, Bronzino\, Van Dyck\, and others—was one of his favorite museums. \nMore about the Frick Madison: “The Frick has created a sequence of gallery spaces at Frick Madison that reflects the museum’s traditional emphasis on intimate encounters with both art and architecture and allows direct access to objects without the interference of vitrines or stanchions.” – frick.org \nThis special opportunity for Parrish Members to glean new perspectives on old masters takes place when the Frick Madison is closed to the public. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nParrish Contemporaries Circle members are invited to join Frampton Co for open-air cocktails and an exclusive preview of Optic Garden\, presented in collaboration with The Rug Company\, at Exhibition The Barn in Bridgehampton. Optic Garden showcases art and design in equal measure with rugs designed by leading creatives for The Rug Company\, including “Undercover\,” a new bespoke rug designed by Elena Frampton\, Principal at Frampton Co\, alongside contemporary paintings by Christine Keefe\, and ceramics by Kalya O’Donoghue. \nInspired to bring an element of the three-dimensional to a typically two-dimensional object\, Elena Frampton designed “Undercover” using a trompe l’oeil effect. The design marries optical illusion with traditional ornamentation\, as a floral-patterned rug appears to peel back from the floor at opposing corners\, offering both a decorative and architectural statement within interior space. Echoing the inspiration behind “Undercover\,” the exhibition recontextualizes form\, function\, and ornamentation in the display. Rugs cascade down the wall and onto the floor\, putting the artistry and creative vision of the designs in full view. The selection of rugs\, curated by Elena Frampton\, includes creative perspectives across a range of industries with additional designs by Diane von Furstenberg\, Rodarte\, Mary Katrantzou\, Paul Smith\, Sarabande\, and The Rug Company. \nAbout Exhibition\n\nA stone’s throw from the ocean\, Exhibition The Barn is situated in the serene hamlet of Bridgehampton in Long Island\, New York. Inspired by the architecture and setting of the Museum\, the curators embraced the opportunity to consider the ways artists use and manipulate space to explore identity and place today. \nDyson and Rasheed employ minimalism and the grid to explore how intellectual\, environmental\, and architectural infrastructures are perceived and negotiated. James and Babirye create figurative work that examines personal and collective histories in relation to identity. Others delve into signature aspects of his distinctive mark-making\, including flagstones and hatch marks\, while later pieces teem with autobiographical imagery. Au Kim is honored to have a repertoire of clients from all over the world who have invited her into their spaces to create and collaborate “quality-of-life” decisions. In addition to designing Bridgehampton National Bank\, Lizan Tops Gallery\, and The Sway Club\, she has worked with NYT bestselling authors\, Victoria and Erik Van Lustbader\, and Dan Gasby and B. Smith. She has worked with professionals from finance\, fashion\, and film. What they all have in common is that they wanted their environments to embrace a peaceful\, serene space influenced by the creative energies of\, the ancient art of space alignment that encourages happiness\, good health\, and prosperity. \nDiana Pepi Stott is the founder of Pepi Design Group\, LLC established in Southampton\, NY in 2003. Her area of expertise is in Brand Identity and Development which are supported by a full range of multimedia services including Web Design\, Social Media Marketing\, Advertising and Signage. In addition to her own company\, Pepi Stott works very closely with her husband Richard Stott of Stott Architecture in creating Graphics\, Wayfinding\, Signage and Exhibition Design for municipalities\, hospitals\, and commercial buildings. Diana sits on the Parrish Art Museum’s Business Member Council\, is on the Board of the Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce and is a Docent for the Southampton History Museum’s Annual House and Garden Tours. \nRichard F. Stott\, AIA\, LEED AP – Principal. Stott holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Dowling College. After receiving a Master of Architecture Degree\, with Honors\, from CAL-POLY in 1983\, Stott moved back to the East Coast where he established his firm in 1988. He has been involved in hundreds of commercial and residential projects in California\, Vermont\, Connecticut\, Long Island and New York City. Locally\, Stott has designed several prominent projects including the Suffolk Theater Conversion\, the Southampton and Sag Harbor Police Stations\, new units at the Hampton Maid Motel\, and many small projects at Southampton hospital including the award-winning Centennial Hall. His award winning\, innovative designs include numerous sustainability and design awards. Stott is known for his custom-made furniture\, built ins\, architectural details\, and solar installations. He is a sustainability expert and concentrates his focus on daylighting\, carbon reduction and High-Performance Buildings. \n
