SUMMARY:Endless Forms Most Beautiful | Gallery Tour at Exhibition The Barn
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nParrish Contemporaries Circle members are invited to help kick off the summer with a toast at Elena Frampton’s Bridgehampton gallery\, Exhibition The Barn. Currently on view\, is Janelle Lynch: Endless Forms Most Beautiful\, a collaboration between Frampton Co. with London and Hong Kong-based Flowers Gallery. This exhibition of works made by Janelle Lynch in Amagansett\, New York\, during 2022–2023\, will include cyanotypes\, a camera-less 19th century photographic process\, of botanical and wildlife remains and Lynch’s own body through which she affirms the fundamental value of all life in its various manifestations\, including the afterlife. The unique works are evidence of physical existence and\, as abstractions in hues of blue and white\, also suggest the ethereal world. Remarks by the artist will take place at 6 PM. \nAbout Exhibition\nA stone’s throw from the ocean\, Exhibition The Barn is situated in the serene hamlet of Bridgehampton in Long Island\, New York. Through high-profile curatorial partnerships and immersive exhibitions\, the gallery brings a modern and engaging contribution to the east end’s artistic heritage. \nThe event is for active Contemporaries Circle members. Carmen Herrera: Estructuras Monumentales features four large-scale sculptures in red\, blue\, yellow\, and green in the Museum’s South Meadow. Advanced registration is required. \nNot a Parrish member? Join today →\n  \nCarmen Herrera (American\, b. Cuba\, 1915–2022) is known for her hard-edge paintings\, prints\, and sculptures—often representing geometric shapes with both symmetrical and asymmetrical abstractions. The four works installed in the Meadow\, Angulo Azul (2017)\, Angulo Amarillo (2017)\, Estructura Verde (1966/2018)\, and Gemini (Red) (1971/2019) are part of Herrera’s series Estructuras\, which she initially envisioned as sketches and paintings in the 1960s. In 1971\, Herrera fabricated four Estructuras in wood—three wall-based works and one free-standing. However\, it was only in the final fifteen years of the artist’s life that she was able to realize her vision for these monumental sculptures on a larger scale. The works in this series are inspired by and emanate from the artist’s vivid memories of his treacherous journey through the desert as a 16-year-old youth escaping the vio­lence of then war-torn El Salvador in the hopes of finding safe haven in the United States. \nDede Gotthelf purchased the Southampton Inn and other development properties in the town after a highly successful career in banking\, brokerage\, and government. Dede is active on several local boards and advisory committees; was recognized as one of the Top 100 Real Estate Women of the 21st Century by AREW; awarded New York State Women of Distinction (New York State); Certificate of Special Achievement for urban planning by the New Your State governor. Dede is an honors graduate from Williams College\, the Bearley School\, and holds a sailing captain’s license. With a dedicated and experienced day-to-day management team at the Inn\, Dede is focused on her passion to make the East End a sustainable year-round community through staff housing and tourism while maintaining the culture and beauty of our community. \nJolie Parcher is the Founder and Director of Mandala Yoga Center for Healing Arts and has been a certified yoga teacher from The Patanjali Yoga Center in Kathmandu\, Nepal since 1990. Jolie is certified as an Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Practitioner from the Kripalu School of Ayurveda and is trained as a practitioner of the Ayurvedic hands on Treatments as well as an Aromatherapist. \nJohn J. Leonard\, of The Law Office of John J. Leonard\, is an attorney engaged in private practice in Hampton Bays with a focus on civil litigation\, matrimonial and family law\, real estate\, and estate planning. Join today →\nThe Art of Food focuses on food as an essential cultural component that builds communities and fortifies human relationships. More than one hundred drawings\, paintings\, photographs\, sculptures\, and ceramics by thirty-seven artists from the Jordan Schnitzer Foundation will be exhibited. Among these are major postwar figures such as David Hockney\, Jasper Johns\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, and Andy Warhol; contemporary artists including Enrique Chagoya\, Jenny Holzer\, Alison Saar\, Lorna Simpson\, and Rachel Whiteread; and artists with deep roots in the East End of Long Island\, including Robert Gober\, Roy Lichtenstein\, and Donald Sultan. The exhibition is organized by the University of Arizona Museum of Art and the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation. \nThe exhibition relates to the East End of Long Island’s distinguished history as one of the most important fishing and agricultural regions in New York State. The area was developed into agricultural land by the 1640s\, and by the 1820s as many as 95 percent of the residents lived on farms. While Greenport and Sag Harbor were ports for trade and whaling\, Peconic Bay was known for its fish and shellfish. Today\, the East End remains an agricultural center\, producing more than one hundred different crops\, and an increasingly prominent wine region with more than sixty vineyards. \nIn conjunction with the exhibition and in celebration of the region’s agricultural history\, special food events will be organized in partnership with the James Beard Foundation\, local farmers\, and food organizations\, and will entail educational programming\, workshops\, and conversations featuring local and national thought leaders of the food community. \nThe Art of Food at the Parrish is organized by Corinne Erni\, Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator\, Art and Education and Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs\, with additional support from Kaitlin Halloran\, Assistant Curator and Publications Coordinator. \nEXHIBITION SUPPORT \nThe Art of Food: From the Collections of Jordan D. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nMembers are invited to a private gallery tour of Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York with Kaitlin Halloran\, Assistant Curator\, and curator of the exhibition. \nCome and engage in conversation with Kaitlin and other members of the Museum. This event takes place before the Museum opens. Coffee will be set up in the Café for guests following the tour. \nNote: Your membership must be active upon registration and on the date of the tour. \nAbout the Exhibition: Comprised of 27 paintings and prints\, Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York focuses on the cityscapes Porter created of Manhattan between the mid-1940s to mid-1970s. Drawn from the Museum’s vast Porter collection—consisting of over 240 works—Across the Avenues will include 23 paintings and four lithographic prints that illuminate the artist’s ability to capture New York City’s bustling energy\, both day and night. Highlighting different moments throughout the day\, Porter’s use of varied hues of blue\, red\, and yellow evoke the early\, hazy morning skies above the skyscrapers and the dark\, moody night atmospheres. \nAfter occasionally visiting New York during his college years\, Porter moved to the city in 1928 and lived on 15th Street while continuing his studies at the Art Students League for two years. After spending time in Europe\, he returned stateside in 1932 and married poet Anne Channing\, and they called New York City their home until 1936. During these four years\, Porter maintained a consistent subject matter of cityscapes in his works—specifically street scenes—which are on view in this permanent collection installation. After spending some years in his hometown Winnetka\, IL\, he returned to New York in 1943 and remained in the city until 1949 before moving to Southampton\, NY. Over the course of Porter’s career\, the city endured as one of his main inspirations\, in addition to his landscapes and portraits. \nThis group of cityscapes illustrate the artist’s commitment to representational art and his formal training. Porter had previously studied at Harvard University with Arthur Pope\, at Parsons School of Design with Jacques Maroger\, and at the Art Students League with Boardman Robinson and Thomas Hart Benton—all during a time when the focus in contemporary art was on abstraction. Despite being criticized by peers and art critics\, including famed Clement Greenberg\, Porter was unwavering in his devotion to a representational style of his own. This style is on full display with these works\, where he explores the city from multiple vantage points—with views from above looking through an apartment windowpane\, of the hurried sidewalks during the mid-afternoon rush\, and below the noisy avenues on subway platforms. \nNot a member but want to attend? Featured women artists from the permanent collection capture the essence and tone of the environment through their own unique visual language. \nLarge-scale works by Renate Aller\, April Gornik\, and Jane Wilson will demonstrate how these women artists masterfully composed mural-sized works\, countering the common association of large-scale with the masculine. Join today →\nSalvadoran artist Simón Vega creates drawings\, objects\, sculptural installations\, and happenings inspired by the self-made informal architecture\, local market stands\, and vendor carts found in the streets and beaches of Central America. With his work\, Vega examines the lasting effects of colonialism and the Cold War in Central America\, and parodies disparities between first and second-world cultures\, economies\, and social experiences. At the Parrish\, Vega will present Gemini Duplex Chanti Capsule\, Tropical Mercury Capsule\, crafted from repurposed roofing sheets\, toys\, and other objects\, and Tropical Spacesuits\, made of recycled Hawaiian shirts\, as well as a photography series documenting his largest sculpture to date\, Palm 3 World Station\, for greater context of his sculptures. Hernández\, Assistant Curator\, and Casey Kleister Meyer\, Education Programs Manager. \nComprised of 27 paintings and prints\, Across the Avenues: Fairfield Porter in New York focuses on the cityscapes Porter created of Manhattan between the mid-1940s to mid-1970s. Drawn from the Museum’s vast Porter collection—consisting of over 240 works—Across the Avenues will include 23 paintings and four lithographic prints that illuminate the artist’s ability to capture New York City’s bustling energy\, both day and night. Davis opened the first Golden Pear on Mainstreet\, Southampton in 1987\, followed by East Hampton in 1991\, and Bridgehampton in 1996. Keith learned the restaurant business through many years of experience that began at the age of 14 washing dishes and preparing food at a local seafood restaurant. During his college years\, Keith worked four summer seasons at the famous Dune Deck Hotel located on the Atlantic Ocean in Westhampton Beach. There he refined his front-of-house skills and worked very closely with the chef. For over a decade\, millions of viewers counted on Carmindy to teach them her insider makeup tips and tricks on TLC’s hit show “What Not To Wear” but what really inspired her viewers was her confidence-boosting attitude towards everyone. Carmindy taught them how to see their unique beauty and stop any negative commentary going on in their heads. She showed that people of all ages\, skin tones\, and features had the right to love and celebrate themselves. Carmindy is currently working out of Water Mill\, NY on her national projects. \nRandy King has been involved in every facet of the fitness industry on the east end of Long Island and New York City for at least 30 years. He managed the Gym Source Southampton location\, a former leader in residential and commercial fitness distribution\, and was responsible for driving sales and maintaining positive customer interactions. Randy branched out on his own in 2021 forming Shinnecock Functional Fitness\, LLC a rubber gym floor installation company. He actively coordinates and designs flooring options with some of the biggest builders and architects in the Hamptons. Shinnecock Functional Fitness is also aligned in partnership with Gym Tech Fitness which both provide a truly boutique home gym design experience like no other. Randy has been married to his wife Nora for 23 years and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Shinnecock Indian Nation Council of Trustees.

Hendricks (1945—2017) revolutionized contemporary portraiture with his vivid depictions of Black subjects that emphasize the dignity and individuality of his sitters. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nParrish Contemporaries Circle members are invited to join Frampton Co for open-air cocktails and an exclusive preview of Optic Garden\, presented in collaboration with The Rug Company\, at Exhibition The Barn in Bridgehampton. Optic Garden showcases art and design in equal measure with rugs designed by leading creatives for The Rug Company\, including “Undercover\,” a new bespoke rug designed by Elena Frampton\, Principal at Frampton Co\, alongside contemporary paintings by Christine Keefe\, and ceramics by Kalya O’Donoghue. \nInspired to bring an element of the three-dimensional to a typically two-dimensional object\, Elena Frampton designed “Undercover” using a trompe l’oeil effect. The design marries optical illusion with traditional ornamentation\, as a floral-patterned rug appears to peel back from the floor at opposing corners\, offering both a decorative and architectural statement within interior space. Echoing the inspiration behind “Undercover\,” the exhibition recontextualizes form\, function\, and ornamentation in the display. Rugs cascade down the wall and onto the floor\, putting the artistry and creative vision of the designs in full view. The selection of rugs\, curated by Elena Frampton\, includes creative perspectives across a range of industries with additional designs by Diane von Furstenberg\, Rodarte\, Mary Katrantzou\, Paul Smith\, Sarabande\, and The Rug Company. \nAbout Exhibition\n\nA stone’s throw from the ocean\, Exhibition The Barn is situated in the serene hamlet of Bridgehampton in Long Island\, New York. With a degree in art history from Cornell University\, she took her knowledge of fine and decorative arts coupled with her art education at Sotheby’s Institute in London\, to create Dale Novick Ltd. \nFollowing years living and working in the arts in Europe\, Dale moved to Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil. Almost immediately after the birth of her business\, Town and Country Magazine published a piece on her work\, and her brand and business were truly ablaze. She has received repeated coverage in high fashion magazines including InStyle\, Vogue\, Cosmopolitan\, and Vanity Fair. Her all-inclusive work reflects a respect for clean\, organic\, architectural\, and colorful pieces\, to be incorporated in the lives of busy executives or Fashionistas. Dale’s pieces have been embraced by the worlds of fashion\, art\, film\, and television and have sold at Ralph Lauren\, Bergdorf Goodman\, Saks Fifth Avenue\, Moda Operandi\, Serenella\, Grayson De Vere\, and others. \nPeter Sabbeth\, Partner\, Oza Sabbeth Architects\, Bridgehampton \nPeter was a fine art painter in the mid 90’s when he first started designing and building loft spaces in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood. In 2008\, Peter moved east and founded Modern Green Home\, where he helped transform the “traditional” Hamptons building industry through dozens of modern\, sustainable projects. In 2014\, Peter met Nilay\, and their common passion for both design and construction led to a fast friendship and ultimately partnership in 2015 \nPeter is a graduate of Tufts University\, a 9-year member of the US Green Building Council\, Skateboard Designer\, trans-oceanic sailor\, tea crafter\, and father of two boys. Chiffert\, Chiffert Architectural Engineering and Construction Services\, Southampton \nMarc A Chiffert\, was born in France\, grew up in Brazil\, went to school in Canada and moved to the US in 1983.  Marc grew up in an art family\, where his mother was an international art dealer specializing in French and Israeli contemporary art\, and later Brazilian art too.   Marc’s mother had a gallery in Fairfield County\, Gallerie Vendome for 20 years.  By Profession\, Marc is an NYS licensed engineer with a professional architectural engineering practice in Southampton.  Marc is also the Co-Chairperson of the Southampton Village Planning Commission and a member of the Town of Southampton Licensing Review Board.  Marc sits on various boards\, including the Friends of McGill University. \nSylvia Wong\, Owner\, The Roundtree\, Amagansett  \nSylvia Wong is the owner of The Roundtree\, a Small Luxury Hotel property that opened in Amagansett in 2020.  After a decades long career as a corporate attorney\, first at Paul\, Weiss\, Rifkind\, Wharton & Garrison\, a New York City law firm\, and then at IBM’s Armonk and Asia offices\, she joined the Board of Directors of WTI\, Inc.\, a private investment firm\, in 2015 and has been working closely with it to identify\, evaluate and negotiate real estate investments. \nHer love for traveling and the wonderful memories she collected from those travels inspired her to open The Roundtree. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \n12 PM | Conversation with Curator Cristina Kahlo and Museum Executive Director Mónica Ramírez-Montagut\nJoin us for the preview of Kahlo: An Expanded Body—a groundbreaking investigation into celebrated artist Frida Kahlo (Mexican\, 1907–1954) through a series of documents\, photos\, letters\, and clinical files that shed light on her dramatic medical history and its sustained impact on her life and work. The multi-gallery exhibition provides new insight into the importance of the body as enduring source material for Kahlo’s representational and metaphorical depictions of her physical and emotional life. \nThe exhibition features more than 100 archives\, letters\, and photos—several never before seen—made available through exclusive access to private family files by Kahlo’s grandniece\, the Mexican artist Cristina Kahlo. On view are facsimiles of personal letters and postcards between Frida and family\, friends\, lovers\, and doctors; photographs of the artist and her inner circle by Mexican and international photographers including Lola Álvarez Bravo\, Florence Arquin\, Gisele Freund\, Guillermo Kahlo\, Antonio Kahlo\, and Nickolas Muray; and extensive graphic medical records and documents.
