SUMMARY:Encounters with Artists: Insights into the Artistic Process
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n  \nJoin us as ten established artist members of the Parrish Art Museum share aspects of their artistic process and inspirations through conversation and visual representation. Each artist will showcase some of their recent works and describe or demonstrate the way they engage in their art. This event will be an aesthetically immersive experience for participants introducing them to a variety of art forms including painting\, sculpting\, digital media\, hand-built ceramic\, multi-media collages\, and 3-D printing. \nParticipating artists include Bill Albertini\, Roz Dimon\,  Robin Gianis\, Brianna Hernández\, Mary Jaffe\, Setha Low\, Scott McIntire\, Anne Seelbach\, Janice Stanton\, and Tmima.  \nBill Albertini\, Mattituck\nAlbertini creates sculptures using various technologies including 3D printing\, laser cutting and robot milling. In addition to plastics he incorporates bronze-infused stainless steel and wood into his works. \nRoz Dimon\, Shelter Island\nDimon is a digital artist who creates multi-layered interactive paintings in a new media process created by the artist. Her works seek to connect with others in an intimate\, meaningful way that goes beyond the physical. \nRobin Gianis\, East Hampton\nGianis creates hand-built ceramics finished with a variety of surface techniques inspired by the beauty of the natural world. \nBrianna Hernández\, Shinnecock Nation\, Southampton\nHernández creates sculptures gilded with silver\, gold\, and copper leaf that focus on the experience of providing end-of-life care\, grieving processes\, and morning rituals.  \nMary Jaffe\, Bridgehampton\nJaffe creates functional and sculptural ceramics inspired by both vast landscapes and small intrinsic beauties of the natural world. \nSetha Low\, East Hampton\nLow’s artwork takes a critical view of social\, political\, and cultural issues and employs both abstract and figurative representations to evoke different emotional responses. \nScott McIntire\, Greenport\nMcIntire’s paintings are influenced by environmental issues. His series of Energy Circles explore the unseen sources of energy that surround us such as radio waves\, cellular transmissions\, sounds and smells. \nAnne Seelbach\, North Haven\nSeelbach is a painter and print artist whose work is influenced by the environment including the tidal waters and shoreline of eastern Long Island. \nJanice Stanton\, Bridgehampton\nStanton’s collages are layered\, abstract pieces which blur the lines between photography\, painting\, and collage. Handmade paper\, text and markings with the artist’s hand are key elements. \nTmima\, Bellmore\nTmima’s sculptural artwork forces the contemporary eye and mind to deal with personal experiences. Her sculptures shift from historical events to modern socio-political issues.  \n  \nThis indoor event requires all attendees to wear medical-grade masks at all times and show proof of vaccination; those 18 and older must provide a valid ID.
