Se recomienda encarecidamente a los asistentes que traigan sillas y mantas. \nAbout the Film\nSelected by Guillermo del Toro as one of his favorite movies\, the Mexican Batwoman is a fascinating and lesser-known addition to the already superb Batman franchise. Capitalizing on the popularity of the Adam West–starring American television series\, director Rene Cardona—later known for his luchador (masked wrestler) adventure movies—began work on a film that would showcase the talents of actress Maura Monti. By blending elements of “Batmania” with Mexico’s popular lucha libre style\, Cardona created a unique take on the superhero genre. In this 1968 Mexican version\, shot in the stunning locale of Acapulco\, the gorgeous Maura Monti dons the cape\, cowl\, boots\, and bikini to take on the lead role of Batwoman. With her stunning beauty and crime-fighting finesse\, she is called upon to investigate a mad scientist who is capturing wrestlers and using their spinal fluid to create a Gill Man. Starring Roberto Cañedo\, Héctor Godoy\, David Silva\, Crox Alvarado\, Armando Silvestre\, Manuel Capetillo\, Ofelia Chávez\, and Carlos Suárez. \nSupport for films at the Parrish is provided by Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs; Support for Friday Nights is provided by The Corcoran Group. \nSobre la película\nSeleccionada por Guillermo del Toro como una de sus películas favoritas\, la Batwoman mexicana es una fascinante y menos conocida adición a la ya magnífica franquicia de Batman.
