In 2023\, that number has dropped to 3.9 million acres. Violence\, eminent domain\, and government discrimination—all had an impact. Gaining Ground: The Fight for Black Land from Emmy Nominated Director Eternal Polk examines the causes\, effects\, and what is being done to fight the exploitation of this law and how landowners are reclaiming their agricultural legacy and creating paths to generational wealth. \nWatch the trailer here. \nSchedule\n5 PM | Museum Tour of exhibitions on view\, led by Chief Curator Corinne Erni\n6 PM | Screening Gaining Ground: The Fight for Black Land\n7:45–9 PM | Post-film Reception and Discussion \nSave the Date\nBlack Film Festival\, Part II\, will be held on Friday\, November 8\, 2024. \nSupport for the Black Film Festival is provided by Suffolk County Office of Cultural Affairs; Support for Friday Nights is provided by The Corcoran Group.
