Working with their art teachers\, after school programs and in art clubs\, the students demonstrate creativity\, enthusiasm\, and technical skill in media ranging from painting to sculpture\, drawing\, and photography. This exhibition will also feature student works created with visiting artist Andrea Cote. \nVisiting Artist Initiative\nThe Parrish’s Visiting Artist Initiative\, How Artists Work\, connects students and teachers with working artists\, providing insights into their artistic practices and guiding students through their own creative explorations. The program has expanded to include participants in the Access Parrish program. This year\, the exhibition highlights work created by students in collaboration with visiting artist Andrea Cote. Drawing on her recent project for the Museum’s 13th Parrish Road Show at Bridge Gardens in Fall 2024\, To Belong to the World\, Cote shared her process and inspiration for the site-specific works which incorporated garden plant life and explored her body’s connection to nature’s cycles. Students experimented with several techniques she uses to develop her imagery including cyanotype and printmaking\, incorporating themes of the human body and our interconnectedness with nature. The final installation of the show is curated by the ARTscope Teen Council.  \nAbout Linda White & The Imagination Play Project\nAs a play curator\, Linda White’s focus began with young children and has grown to working with people of all ages and abilities. While you’re in our lobby\, try the Mini Print Vending Machine! Brought to us by Inciardi Prints\, the Mini Print Vending Machine dispenses a surprise print for just $1 (in quarters). \nPrint artist Anastasia Inciardi dreamed up this idea\, inspired by nostalgic vending machines on Brooklyn’s sidewalks. Since its introduction in 2022\, the Mini Print Vending Machine has grown in popularity with over 17 million views on Instagram. Anastasia\, who has a print studio in Portland\, Maine\, has a deep connection to Amagansett\, where she spent her summers at her grandparents’ home. She has a long-standing appreciation for the Parrish Art Museum and will be creating custom prints for the Parrish! \nArt Workshops\nCreate collages inspired by the colors of fall\, leaf rubbings\, and more! \nFamily Sing-Along Story Time | 11–11:45 AM & A Musical Performance for all ages | 12–1 PM\nEnjoy an afternoon with musician\, storyteller\, naturalist\, teacher\, and author Johnny Cuomo! \nJohnny Cuomo is a musician\, storyteller\, naturalist\, teacher\, and author based in New York. Johnny has been sharing folk tales with children and adults of all ages in schools\, libraries\, museums\, hospitals\, nature centers\, and other venues for over twenty years. In addition to writing and recording his own folk music\, he has also recorded original children’s songs and stories. He is also featured as a guest musician on a variety of other albums and recordings. His latest project\, a full color children’s story called Katy Didn’t was released by Peter Pauper Press in the Fall of 2020. DESCRIPTION:Children of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in creative play on the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace\, where they can explore light\, shape\, shadows\, and color with Linda White\, Play Curator. From 10:30 AM to 1 PM\, join the Imagination Play Project in a pop-up workshop and build using recycled materials. The Imagination Play Project creates opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage\, design\, and connect with open-ended materials and play. \nLinda White is the founder and creator of Imagination Play Project. As a play curator\, her focus began with young children and has grown to working with people of all ages and abilities. Drawing inspiration from the schools in Reggio Emilia\, Italy\, and the rich aesthetic landscape of NYC\, she creates experiences using a variety of objects that encourage exploration\, engage the senses\, and inspire creativity. Learn more →
