Members with children aged 3-8\, and their guests\, are invited to a special morning set aside for wholesome activities focused on body\, mind\, and healthy living with Yoga instructor Christine Panico and New York Times bestselling author Susan Verde. \nStretch your body\, boost your energy\, and enjoy the serene setting of the meadows that border the Parrish Art Museum. Panico will introduce different movements and poses suitable for young children that support mindfulness and partner poses that encourage cooperation. Verde will lead an interactive children’s storytime inspired by her series including I Am Yoga and I Am Peace\, and the #1 New York Times bestseller I Am Human: A Book of Empathy. Verde will help us learn to identify our possibilities\, accept our mistakes\, and feel connected to the great world around us. Includes the creation of an affirmation rock garden. \nEvent includes yogurt tasting with Kalypso Greek Yogurt\, a sustainably conscious company crafting premier yogurt from 100% grass fed milk free from hormones or antibiotics. \nEvent takes place outdoors on the Mildred C. Brinn Terrace before the Museum opens. Please dress comfortably and accordingly. \nParents\, grandparents\, and members of all ages are invited to attend with children ages 3-8 years of age. She creatively adapts her classes and sessions for clients of all ages\, from toddlers to 95 (and everything in between). Her experience has grown to include Prenatal Yoga and creating an adaptive yoga class designed to help people with neuropathies for the HNF & CMT communities for an exercise program called Movement is Medicine. Panico finds being able to use yoga to help people who may be limited by injury or other physical ailment to be the most rewarding part of her journey as an instructor so far. The screenings present award-winning feature films and shorts\, selected by a committee representing both organizations as well as The Witness Project of Long Island and the Suffolk County Department of Health Services\, Office of Minority Health. \nABOUT THE FILM\nBlack Film Festival\, Part II features a screening of the film Kinks\, Locs\, and Love\, documenting women of African descent and their hair journeys from perms to natural hair in the Washington D.C.\, area\, showcasing the natural hair community with events\, businesses\, fashion figures\, and bloggers. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion on black hair and its importance to health\, sense of identity\, community\, and culture\, including dermatologist Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu\, among others. \nABOUT THE DIRECTOR\nLawrence Green is a filmmaker\, photographer\, and DJ\, with an MFA in Film and Media Arts from American University. Green has held production and television programming positions with the Service Employee International Union and Public Broadcasting Service and has been featured in renowned venues including South by Southwest\, The Kennedy Center\, and The National Museum of African American History and Culture. In 2010\, Green founded Time Traveling Media Inc. to produce original content and provide visual solutions for a range of clientele. In addition to Kinks\, Locs\, and Love\, Green’s short documentaries include Zsudayka’s Journey\, The Conversation\, and Trashman respectively explore themes of artistic life balance\, interpersonal journeys toward parenthood\, and socioenvironmental awareness. \n  \nAdvance ticket purchase with pre-event registration is recommended.
