SUMMARY:Private Tour at the Frick Madison
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nJoin Members at the Patron level and above for a private tour at the Frick Madison\, the temporary home of The Frick Collection. The tour will include highlights of their permanent collection and an introduction to their special exhibition\, Barkley L. Hendricks: Portraits at the Frick. Barkley L. Hendricks (1945—2017) revolutionized contemporary portraiture with his vivid depictions of Black subjects that emphasize the dignity and individuality of his sitters. Beginning in the late 1960s\, his work drew from the challenged traditions of European art\, and The Frick Collection—with its iconic portraits by Rembrandt\, Bronzino\, Van Dyck\, and others—was one of his favorite museums. \nMore about the Frick Madison: “The Frick has created a sequence of gallery spaces at Frick Madison that reflects the museum’s traditional emphasis on intimate encounters with both art and architecture and allows direct access to objects without the interference of vitrines or stanchions.” – frick.org \nThis special opportunity for Parrish Members to glean new perspectives on old masters takes place when the Frick Madison is closed to the public. Event is being co-organized by Parrish Member and supporter\, Bobbie Braun. You must be a current Patron level member or above to register. \nMembers may bring up to one guest provided space is still available. Space is limited. Please contact Membership to register your guest. \nNot a Member? Join today!

SUMMARY:Studio Visit | Eddie Martinez
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nJoin Members at the Contemporaries Circle and above for an exclusive visit to the studio of artist Eddie Martinez located in Orient. For his participation in the Parrish’s 125th Anniversary exhibition\, Artists Choose Parrish\, Martinez paired drawings from his archives with artists of previous generations\, highlighting largely unfamiliar\, pre-1970 collection works by artists including Wilfrid Zogbaum\, Abraham Hankins\, and Frederick Stuart Church. \n“Looking at the final selection of drawings from the Parrish collection and my own side by side\, it is easy to see the commonality in our approach to this medium. With overlapping subject matter\, similar constructs\, and a resonance in mark-making\, I found a sense of the familiar that fascinated me.” \nEngage in conversation with Martinez and other art enthusiasts. \nRegistration required. Limited space available. \nThis event is intended for Members of the Parrish Art Museum at the Contemporaries Circle level and above. Due to the limited space available\, we are unable to accommodate guests of Members.

SUMMARY:Optic Garden | Preview at Exhibition The Barn
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nParrish Contemporaries Circle members are invited to join Frampton Co for open-air cocktails and an exclusive preview of Optic Garden\, presented in collaboration with The Rug Company\, at Exhibition The Barn in Bridgehampton. Optic Garden showcases art and design in equal measure with rugs designed by leading creatives for The Rug Company\, including “Undercover\,” a new bespoke rug designed by Elena Frampton\, Principal at Frampton Co\, alongside contemporary paintings by Christine Keefe\, and ceramics by Kalya O’Donoghue. \nInspired to bring an element of the three-dimensional to a typically two-dimensional object\, Elena Frampton designed “Undercover” using a trompe l’oeil effect. The design marries optical illusion with traditional ornamentation\, as a floral-patterned rug appears to peel back from the floor at opposing corners\, offering both a decorative and architectural statement within interior space. Echoing the inspiration behind “Undercover\,” the exhibition recontextualizes form\, function\, and ornamentation in the display. Rugs cascade down the wall and onto the floor\, putting the artistry and creative vision of the designs in full view. The selection of rugs\, curated by Elena Frampton\, includes creative perspectives across a range of industries with additional designs by Diane von Furstenberg\, Rodarte\, Mary Katrantzou\, Paul Smith\, Sarabande\, and The Rug Company. \nAbout Exhibition\n\nA stone’s throw from the ocean\, Exhibition The Barn is situated in the serene hamlet of Bridgehampton in Long Island\, New York. Through high-profile curatorial partnerships and immersive exhibitions\, the gallery brings a modern and engaging contribution to the east end’s artistic heritage. \n\nThe event is for active Contemporaries Circle members. Please feel free to drop in any time between 5-7 PM. Reservations are required. Members may bring guests\, but please let us know who is attending with you. \nThis event is organized by the Contemporaries Circle Committee. The first act ends with Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 23\, “Appassionata\,” considered one of his greatest\, most technically challenging\, and tempestuous piano sonatas. Wang will end her program with a rarely performed sonata by Sergei Rachmaninoff\, the Sonata No. 1 in D minor\, Op. 28. \nBorn in Beijing\, Wang is an active performer in China\, Europe\, and the United States. Executed in a wide range of media\, including densely layered paintings\, sculpture\, installation\, diagrams\, and sound and video\, El-Sayegh’s work investigates the formation and break-down of systems of order\, be they bodily\, linguistic\, or political. Read more about El-Sayegh here. \nRachel Lehmann and David Maupin founded Lehmann Maupin in 1996. The gallery represents a diverse range of contemporary artists and estates from around the world. Their 24th street gallery was designed by architect Peter Marino and boasts three floors and four galleries\, each dedicated to a specific type of artwork. “We designed each space with a range of opportunities\, from adjusting the daylight with solar shading to several options to illuminate the room itself – to precisely light the artwork itself\, creating no shadows whatsoever\,” says Marino. \nThe event is organized by the Parrish Contemporaries Circle Committee and will be open to all members of the Parrish Art Museum at the PCC level and above. \nSpace is limited; reservations are required.
