Sexmob has developed a signature sound; reimagining music by an unexpected range of artists\, from Leadbelly\, Duke Ellington\, and Count Basie to Prince\, Paul McCartney\, Kurt Cobain\, and The Rolling Stones\, as well as iconic film composers like Nino Rota and John Barry. \nNow celebrating over 20 years as a band\, Sexmob continues to evolve. With their unmistakable blend of virtuosic improvisation\, humor\, and groove\, Sexmob delivers performances that are as unpredictable as they are unforgettable. \nSteven Bernstein is a New York–based trumpeter\, slide trumpeter\, composer\, and bandleader known for his genre-blending approach to jazz and his signature use of the rare slide trumpet. He is the founder of ensembles including Sexmob and the Millennial Territory Orchestra\, and has been a key figure in the downtown music scene for decades. A three-time Grammy Award winner\, he has received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album and two for Best Americana Album\, along with multiple DownBeat Critics Poll honors. Throughout his career\, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Lou Reed\, Elton John\, Sting\, Aretha Franklin\, and Bill Frisell. He has performed internationally at major festivals and iconic venues\, including the Apollo Theater and Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble in Woodstock\, New York. \nThe Parrish Art Museum’s programs are made possible\, in part\, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature\, and by the property taxpayers from the Southampton Union Free School District and the Tuckahoe Common School District.
