SUMMARY:Summer Painting en Plein Air at The Parrish
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAYS 10am-12:30pm \nSession II: July 16\, 23\, 30\, August 6\, 13 \nSPECIAL WRAP-UP CLASS Friday September 10 \nOpen to all\, ages 15 on up. Beginner to advanced. Class tailored to all levels. Students may work in gouache or oil and are responsible for their own supplies. Supply list provided. \nMaterials list \nClass limited to 12 students. \n$425 | $350 Members \nSOLD OUT \nThis summer\, two six-class series of en plein air painting will be offered.  Students may join one or both series.  The first class in each will be held at the Parrish Art Museum where we will take students through materials\, processes\, and class structure.  Students will explore landscape works in the galleries to discuss landscape painting and painting issues\, including perspective\, distance\, light and shadow\, color\, trees\, clouds\, grass\, etc. \nAll other sessions (weather permitting) will be held at specific sites: gardens\, landscape\, waterscapes. The September 10 wrap-up class will be at a special location with a fun lesson\, and a good-bye party! \nNOTE: In the case of inclement weather\, classes will be held at the Parrish Art Museum.

DESCRIPTION:Affinities for Abstraction: Women Artists on Eastern Long Island\, 1950-2020\, is a freewheeling look at the work of 42 artists who have called the Hamptons home for a week\, a season\, or a lifetime. Organized by the Museum’s Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator Alicia G. Longwell\, Ph.D.\, the exhibition tells the sweeping story of artists with ties to the region who have expanded and exploited the language of abstraction.

SUMMARY:Field of Dreams
DESCRIPTION:On August 20\, 2020\, the Parrish opened Field of Dreams\, our inaugural sculpture exhibition created to extend the galleries outdoors and activate the Museum’s meadows with work that engages and responds to the Parrish’s architecture and landscape. The exhibition series is part of the Museum’s new Art in the Meadow initiative that enlivens the grounds with performances\, projections\, and works of art. \nField of Dreams outdoor sculpture exhibition is open and free to the public daily\, from 11 am–5 pm. Visitors are asked to observe social distancing practices and are required to wear masks on Museum property.

He came to New York to study at the Manhattan School of Music\, where he received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. \nGoldberg has worked and toured with Miriam Makeba\, Hugh Masekela\, and Harry Belafonte\, among many others. He also recorded for Paul Simon on the Graceland album\, playing soprano sax\, and the pennywhistle solo on “You Can Call Me Al”. He also served as the woodwind specialist on The Rosie O’Donnell Show for the six years it ran. Every morning\, the show would open with a shot of his Yamaha alto saxophone’s bell. In addition\, he played for many artists including Tony Bennett and Phil Collins. \nGoldberg formed his own group called Ojoyo\, which specializes in South African flavored jazz – Safrojazz. The group has recorded three albums of original music\, and played at many Jazz festivals and clubs throughout the United States with Hugh Masekela.  He teaches at the Ross School in East Hampton\, New York\, and performs around the New York City and Long Island area. \n\nThis event is planned and sponsored by the Parrish Business Council\, a volunteer committee of East End professionals serving culturally engaged business leaders and organizations by providing programming and networking opportunities for Parrish Business Members.
